Once again two great men - Thor and Eddie - undoubtedly showed their class. But which performance impressed you more here - Hafthor or Eddie? Thor is so tall that to press a 213kg log is really extraordinary, but was Eddie's jumps an error? Could the Beast have added the Log to Deadlift and Axle?

Eddie absolutely would have made it. He had the power to lock it out (arguably more raw shoulder power than Z even in Z’s prime) it’s just that with the ankle he couldn’t stabilize it. And at the time they couldn’t reattempt the record a few weeks later like they have been doing with records set at home. Big Z I feel is the better log presser as his technique is much more efficient. But Eddie Hall certainly has stronger overhead power. Shows it nearly every time he lifts a log or axle, and that Kazmaier like no leg drive pure raw power press is just wow! I have no doubt whatsoever that if Eddie had another shot a few weeks later when his ankle was in better shape that record would have been his. (And if anyone doubts that just go look at Eddies world record axle press...he strict pressed it and made it look easy! He had at least another 10kg in him that day. I don’t think anyone had stronger shoulders than a prime Eddie Hall)

Its very simple - the money is far far greater in professional strongman than weightlifting, Particularly in the 'western' countries which don't fund sports like weightlifting to any great level. Plus, the Giants Live contests that this is taken from has live crowds that hit 10,000 people or more each year - and come with big television exposure. So money and fame are the pulls. Though competing for your country at olympic level in anything is a great glory of course.
