Shortwave performance of the Icom IC R30 portable observations

ICOM is well respected. Aside from performance, the thing looks like a cell phone from the year 2004.

Is there way to get the IC R30 to automatically detect different modes in a scan, so if it stops on a particular bit of the band it can self detect whether its an AM FM SSB signal??? I was told it will do this but so far I have no proof,and cant yet find a set to try it on, still looking for one in the UK.

Great video, Just got the r30 and I’m looking to get an external antenna mostly for shortwave. You mention the W6LVP loop would you recommend any other antenna ? Also how long could the cable be before there is loss of signal if that makes sense

get a MLA 30 loop ... much less expensive and works great for shortwave.

My IC-R6 work nice in shortwave, but can´t listen digital TV channels, maybe with the IC-R30

Gps, recording, 6m band, some digital, (100 kHz a 3304.999 MHz), software CS-R30, double listerning, double recording, Bluetooth, microSd, 200 channel scan for second, Icom components ;-)
