Yeah, but now the 2015-2018 or 2019 or so all blow transmissions (torque converters to be specific) by 80-120k miles. And when the TC goes out, the whole transmission bites the dust because of all the debris that goes into them. Look it up. The 6L80 and 6L90 are pure junk. GM NEVER could make a good transmission. Even back with the 700R4s and 4L60E, they were all biting the dust before 100k miles. You can't beat a Ford. Will it beat a Chevy or Dodge truck in a drag race? No. But that's not what trucks are for. They are for working and driving off road and when it comes to that, Ford is unbeatable.

Good review on the air ride. Another advantage off road is when the trucks are loaded down to max payload with gear and people the other two trucks will suffer from suspension sag and lose on all the approach, breakover, body and departure angles. The Ram with air ride will level out and lose nothing, making it a far better off road truck than the other two.

I would never be able to live with that garbage cylinder deactivation.. and it does feel slow.. I have a 17 f150 5.0 with a 6" lift and 35's.. my dad has a 16 gmc 5.3.. We have raced three times.. my lifted big tire truck beats his stock gmc by about 2-2.5 car lengths..
@Sheepleton6 жыл бұрын
I'll agree the 5.3 can't really compete, the 6.2 on the other hand is a freaking monster. Cylinder deactivation isn't the end of the world, manually shift into 8th with the hemi trucks and it kills it but shifts normally otherwise. I get 19.2mpg according to the on board computer in my 16 Ram (80% highway driving) got an exhaust and intake on it and it holds its own against most other trucks.

My buddy's dad wanted to replace his 5.3L Sierra and they hopped in my 2010 Ram with the 5.7L and he wanted to go straight to the Ram dealer and get one. He purchased a gently used 5.7L with the 8-speed and he has been extremely happy with the truck. He can't believe how much more responsive the Hemi is and he's saving money on fuel.

I just don't agree with unequal trim level comparisons. Features can increase dramatically through the trim levels of each brand.

I don't think that trucks are crappy these days, company have been selling them for so long and they have gained a lot of experience during all these years. It's now a matter of which company makes the better truck in a market that is already full of very very very reliable cars. There is no BAD choices. Just choices that are better than others.

You do understand the 22" wheels on the Ford actually decreases off-road capability, especially in the snow? The 18"'s or even 20"s on the King Ranch or Platinum would make a significant difference. The Silverado and the Ram have 18" wheels, the additional give in the side walls allows for significantly more grip. Whether you realize it or not what you really did was demonstrate why putting 22" wheels on a truck that is meant for anything other than pavement is a terrible idea.

I feel like I'll never get an unbiased answer to this, but I'm in the market. As I have no brand loyalty to speak of, all 3 of these are realistically in the running (I refuse to buy outside of the former big 3 though). I plan to drive it for 10yrs+. This'll be my first actual truck I've owned (some SUVs and cars before). I won't be doing much, if anything, of the typical modding either like tires, lift kits, suspensions, etc. At most I can see like a tuner chip or something to bump some performance aspects. It'll be mainly a daily driver mostly urban but eventually mixed with country roads. I may occasionally haul stuff like soil, trees, bricks, etc (weekend warrior type stuff) and tow very little ever barring maybe a boat or flat trailer with a tractor on it or something. The RAMs are kinda ugly to me but they obviously have a lot of things going for them. Fords EB worry the hell out of me for longevity and the alleged fact that they're always working harder to do much. I keep hearing mixd things every review I watch/read and these comments always seem to fill exclusively with biased fanboys. Obviously I'll test drive before I buy, and that may tell me more than I'm expecting alone, but how do I decide?

Lol at 67000$ i paid 3500$ for my truck and it hauls, goes offroad and gets me around just fine. I would rather own 20 of my 2002 silverado than 1 of those fords, and could for the $.

There's a reason your chevy costs 3,500, it just baffles me why someone would pay that much for someone elses garbage.

Casey Dman had it for 3 years and over 80k, and put 20$ in gas tank straps into it, outside of oil changes and tires. I beat the hell out of it, and treat it like a truck. Ill save the 50,000$ and not be scared to use my truck as a truck.

I’m glad someone pointed out how the Ford interiors feel cheap plastic wise. Plus try to find a nice f150 without a b pillar filled with paint swirls right on the dealer lot too. I still think the fords are nice but I overall like the ram better. A ram with the the 3.92 with the 5.7 is a winning combo. You really can find deals on the ram 1500. Can’t say that about the ford. As far as I’m tracking the ram is the only one offering factory extended warranty. Too me that says something there. Love the hate the ram gets but this isn’t the same truck from the early 2000’s ford fan boys.

Why not compare apples to apples and be fair put the 6.2L in the Silverado. Have a 17 High Country 6.2L and it's a beast. Classy looking truck. Had a 14 Ram Sport Crew great truck but doesn't compare to HC. As for Ford well I'm not even going to comment on it.
@jumper7806 жыл бұрын
Because then they would have to match that up against the 6.4L Hemi.
@anthonymacneil22796 жыл бұрын
Martin Garcia 5.3L foot pounds torque of 383 doesn't compare to Ford's 470 and Rams 410 not a level playing field. Talk to me when it's fair because this certainly wasn't.
@Tractionless6 жыл бұрын
Martin Garcia These is a half ton truck comparison. The 6.4L Hemi is not offered in half ton trim, the 6.2L is, thus makes the 6.4L Hemi obsolete for this test, but not the 6.2L.

A limited is a luxury version of the f150 why don’t you use an xlt 4x4
@Seasniffer19693 жыл бұрын
The f150 can be ordered with the HDPP (heavy duty payload package) which will indeed give it the payload capacity of a 3/4 ton. It's as close to a heavy half ton as it gets now

Those are low tow ratings for new trucks. What was the diff gear? My wife's Silverado is rated to tow 12,500, but I also found the only 3.42 in the city. Every other Silverado half ton had a 3.07 or 3.23. I'm sure that made the difference. Also changed the power delivery and helped keep the heavy truck in 4cyl mode when cruising. Still doesn't compete with the Ecoboost, but it isn't slow.

Ford does not set the bar. It is the bar. Over 1 million plus sold every year. Chevy and Dodge wish that can perform like an F-150. The EcoBoost is money and will continue to dominate
