As I am someone who doesn’t mind Ford or Chevy and being someone who gets in and out of the bed frequently I just feel like the step with the handle grip on the Ford is just a hassle when with the Chevy you can just step right up. Just my opinion.

For me, it's just non sense to bash the GMC/Chevy door step; its really smart and convenient 99% of the time. The ford F-150 tailgate step is a hassle and could be added as an extra for special case only (lower level or elderly people).

I've owned Ford, Ram, and now new addition a 2019 Silverado. It's super smooth. Good throttle response. And I like the extras BUT. I've never had any issues or going to dealership crap with Ford or Ram. Ever in 5 yrs of owning them. I hope Chevy doesn't fail me in that aspect becuz I really really like this truck!!!

Chevy has 18" rims because it has the z71 off road package, you don't want 20s for off road because of the smaller sidewall. Console shifter is dumb, it takes up 1/2 of the center console and it's harder to use when shifting manually. Both are good trucks, but I'm disappointed with the new Silverado. The engines are the same and the interior is 90% the same, wish they had a larger screen and more powerful engines.

You're right that 20"s aren't the best choice for off road, but you'd think that there'd be more difference in the price ($1400) for not getting the more expensive rims/tires, running boards, blind-spot monitoring, trailer backup assist, 10 spd transmission, etc. Just not a good value. Wish they'd spend more money on developing a good product and less on advertising that assumes people are idiots.

You are so right about the Ford’s tailgate step. As you age you lose strength in your hips and thighs. My wife and I really appreciate how stable and sturdy the whole system is. Also I’m so happy to see my 2018 Lariat 5.0 is a better truck than the Faux French Corporate Truck.

Didn’t even consider Chevy when looking for a truck. Watched this to see what I might be missing. Not missing anything. And I’m not biased at all. I come from a background of nothing but Subarus and BMWs. I honestly never cared about trucks. But this F-150 is almost more luxurious than my BMW. Only complaint is the brakes don’t work on cruise control to maintain speed and slow you down on a hill and the cruise control can only be adjusted in increments of 1mph. BMW has a switch to easily do 1 or 5. And has a HUD to display all this info. The steering wheel buttons are much easier to reach and use. The F-150 has buttons that just take up so much space and are hard to reach

Be more specific salesman, the towing capacity of this Ecoboost that you said only applies to the base model xl pickup that is actually used for work and construction, it doesn’t apply to the crew cab F-150. I’ve had a Ford and I’ve had Silverado/Sierra. I will never get a Ford again even if it was free. Middle console shifter are for cars, mini vans etc. My boss has a 2017 platinum and backed up into a dumpster and crushed the bed like a coke can. He’s had so many problems with it and it’s always in the shop. I do feel bad for him and he is a Ford lover. Ford might be cheaper but I can see why. My Sierra and Silverado has never gave me problems. Keep your Ford and keep your GoPro. Have a good day.😉

A lot of people here are bashing ford. I find it very interesting. I have 3 fords and 2 chevys. I have a 2005 Ford Explorer 4.6 v8 (177,000miles), a 2008 Ford Expedition 5.4 v8 (203,000miles) and a 2015 Ford F-150 5.0 v8 (58,000miles), all running 100 %. I’ve never had them break down on me and have always kept up on maintenance. In the same token, I have a 2007 Chevy Tahoe 5.3(113,000miles) and a 2016 Chevy Silverado 5.3 v8 (38,000miles) on it. The Tahoe has been perfect and nothing but regular maintenance, but the 2016 Silverado already has transmission issues and Chevy won’t acknowledge it. They keep telling me there’s nothing wrong with the truck. My point is that ford or Chevy, the vehicles are built well. I’ll handle the transmission issue with my own mechanic. If you take care of a vehicle the vehicle will take care of you. It’s all about personal preference and what someone is most comfortable driving. Ford vehicles have their shortcomings and so do Chevy vehicles. They both have their positives too that are unique to those models. Just take care of whatever car or truck you have and it will take care of you.

Matt Weeks thanks for being an adult in the world of “Idiocracy” ranting. I’d be comfortable buying either truck from a usage standpoint. The Ford 4.6; 5.4; and 4.0 engines are super reliable and easy to maintain. We’ll see how well the twin turbo engines hold up. My wife’s 2.0 Escape is smooth, powerful, and nimble. Just a pleasure to drive. No problems through the first 35,000 miles. My sister ran an old Escort Station wagon for over 10 years and over 350,000 miles. It only died because her teenage daughter rear ended someone. If Ford is so bad and Chevy so good why did they develop a transmission together? And vise versa.

When consulting long term reliability look at your local junk yard and see what’s there. Dodge has the most but Chevy has the least. Also with the Chevy you can slap on a lid and blower for about $4000 and push 600 hp reliably. But throwing just a tune at the Chevy and Ford will wake them up but that pushrod v8 has a lot less moving parts.

BASIC maintenance is key brother. As long as you have general knowledge on taking care of regular maintenance, you can never go wrong. 90% of the people I know with vehicle problems take their vehicles in for basic maintenance and let other people, who work for a salary and don't care about your vehicle, do the work for them. My wife has a friend with a 15 Silverado that shakes uncontrollably at around 67-70 mph and they cant figure that either. For my Ford its that frozen door handle. It had that issue for the first time this winter, I took it in to get the latch replaced and a day later it happened again. I live in the south east where it is warmer and thank god for that, if not I probably would have traded the f150 in by now

I own a 2020 Silverado and let me tell you, probably the biggest mistake I made was buying it instead of spending the other 3K and getting the F150 I wanted. I had a 2014 F150 and it blows this thing outta the water. The Chevy is cheap feeling and just lacks in every way vs my (older) Ford. In less than a year I will have a new F150 again.

My biggest complaints with both of these are that it is exceptionally hard to get an extend cab with a 8 foot box and when you find them they are "work truck white" or silver. The other thing I find most annoying since I work with my trucks are the load height. My old F-250 had a load height just below waist high much lower and easier than my 2016 f-150. The F-250 had 16 inch tires. Much more usable than 21 inch tires. I know that you are selling these to people that would never put more than a 4 foot 2X4 in the 5 1/2 foot bed and want to feel like they are driving 18 wheelers. Throwing 20 hay bales up that high gets quite bothersome. Try pulling feed sacks out of one when the load floor is that high. Even a country dealer like Ken Stoeple in Kerrville Texas only carries these suburban trucks. I know I can't fight it because you folks only order what you want us to buy. Try just getting just an XLT in a color other than white or silver. Rant over

I would compare it to a Jeep how they move the window controls off the door. When you get in a pickup, you would expect to find the shifter on the column. But whatever you prefer as an owner!!

I hate every ford person saying that the f-150 can tow up to 13,000 pounds. The f-150 does not have the biggest and most powerful brakes in the segment so how the hell is the capacity that much. Most important thing about towing is being able to stop. F-150 is not capable to tow 13,000 lbs, no 1/2 ton is capable of pulling those numbers.

You can tow a lot with the F150 when equipped with the max tow package. They are sprung pretty good for a 1/2 ton, plus your trailer brakes are slowing the whole load down. The truck doesn't have to stop all that weight on it's own.

Center console shifters are for Sally’s. Takes up console space and just gets in the way. Column shivers are where shifters should be. When I get a new f150 the column shifter is a huge selling point for me.

You forgot that they are also more reliable. I’ve seen and owned more chevys 250k +miles that still run well. I’ve also seen ford with same mileage.....leaking oil and only starting half the time you turn the key. Facts.

Clearly the Chevy seats are all the way back. Look at the A frame. Second 50k + no push to start and the whole center console is plastic vs the Chevy Soft touch. Plus I need a lariat to get a semi good sound system. I’ll stick to Ram, seems like there’s the only ones to show up this yr.

Only things that swings are aluminum. Doors, tailgates and hood are aluminum. The cab, fenders and bed are steel. The bed inner and tail gate are a composite

It's all very well comparing leg room in the back seat of both vehicles... But you should also look at the reach of the front seats. For all we know, the Chevy may have more leg room in the front (fully extended)

Can't figure out how Ford came up with that 13200 lb tow rating.. I've upgraded my '18 3.5 EB with super stiff 10 ply tires and 2500 lb air bags, and my 9500 lb 5th wheel is all the trailer it wants. Plus all the mileage I can squeeze out of it while towing is 8.2 mpg..60 mph on level ground.

I've owned all 3 brands. GM's being my least favourite. I currently own a 2018 xlt. Wile it has many nice qualities and plenty of power from the 5.0.....it honestly lacks the refinement of my last truck....2015 Ram 1500. On the plus side....the f150 is more spacious, great power and decent ride. Where the Ram excels is quality of the interior, smoothness of the Hemi/8 speed and much more refined ride. This doesnt even take into account the Brand new 2019. My ford is certainly capable, good looking and powerful....but just a few steps behind. Great video.

Package is key. But for 1/2 ton trucks fords are stronger and handle workload much better then rams. Issue i had with my rams are they feel "worn out" after a year of service. But the coil rear end and 8spd is so much smoother them ford leafs and 10spd.

I own a 2009 F-150 XLT, lifted, 18 inch XD wheels with 305 Mud Claw tires. I love the truck and mine has cloth seats (which I prefer, with a bench front seat) and column shifter (which I prefer), but as you said, to each their own. I love my truck and I do love the fact that I have more backseat room than I did in my old Chevy. I actually like the front seat being bench because I like where I can rest my arm when I let the middle section down compared to bucket seats. Also I like the mirrors on my truck better than the newer mirrors on the F-150's or the Silverado's. My opinion. have a great day.

The reason the Chevy automatic soft open wasn’t working is because it has a spray in bed liner. Every time I have put a spray bed liner in, it sticks on opening and closing until it wears in. I love and have owned both trucks.

First off Ford has a huge advantage with fleet sales. So its skewed numbers to begin with. Second is GM company usually outsales Ford's pickups with their own. Only their split numbers between Sierra and Silvarado. In all actuality the Chevy wins. also, Ford dales more V6 fleets than anything. So America knows GM has the best v8

I owned Chevy trucks for 32 years until this year. I now have a 2018 F150 with the 3.5 ecoboost. Love it! I was waiting for the 19 Silverado's but the change and engine options weren't enough for me. More of the same old same old. I like that you give the Chevy credit where credit is due. I really wish the Ford had corner step bumpers. I loved them on my Silverado. Does GM have a patent on this? It seems strange that these are not used on all trucks. It really is convenient. My 150 has the step in the tailgate, which is useful, but not as user friendly. Keep up the great reviews.
