I've also see people use thin trim rubber/vinyl around the 3" snorkel section where it goes into the fender. When I had my Airflow one, there would be tiny little rocks that would get stuck in there. I used standard silicone on mine but RTV is a much better option lol. I had a jeep buddy who installed his snorkel and he didn't use any RTV or silicone. Did a deep water crossing and his engine sucked up water! As always, another great video and install! I'm super stoked that Offroad Gorilla got this snorkel up and ready! Airflow had a damn monopoly on the 2nd gens!

Great video! Nice to see another manufacturer making Xterra stuff. I really want to install a snorkel but I can’t bring myself to drill holes in my a pillar.

I KNOW! It's so hard to take that plunge. If it helps, I actually use double sided gorilla tape on my first snorkel install and it worked just fine.

Rye! Had my 2005 X since 2009 (136,000m), i have watched a ton of your videos! I have p0011 + p0300. it's running rough (misfires, and a knock or tick sound near the passenger side cams. Any thoughts? Just changed the oil and am pulling the vvt Solenoids later today. about ready to part ways with it, and sadly, I won't have any more reasons to watch your videos!

Is there a reason you have to take the fender off on this installation unlike the airflow? Or ya just choose this way because you thought it was easier? Thx for the video.

I like it. I find it easier to install the studs and deal with the piping.

Nice video and snorkel BUT does it require removing the fender, as that is a deal breaker for me?

If you remove the fender liner you may be able to secure the snorkel and route piping that way. May I ask why it's a deal breaker? It's pretty easy to do it.

Heya Ry, Added you as a friend on FB a few days ago. I just finished a VK56 swap. Thanks for the videos- couldn't do it without your help! Does this snorkel have similar or the same mounting holes as the airflow one? Would love this new one over my old snorkel.

Can you put the second elbow directly into the existing air box extension that goes through the side of the engine bay?

It depends both are pretty unforgiving plastic. I would guess no.

Yeah sure but if the water is that deep, your alternator, starter, crank sensor and AC condenser will be under water. ,,,so good luck.

Yeah sure but those things won't absolutely destroy your engine if you go too deep. Sucking air into the intake will.

Alibababa or whatever it's called has one for $40, lol i never plan to install one, but hey, it'll be in the trunk for a while Edit if Gorilla is watching 👀 the top snorkel should include bolts to bolt it to the tube for a better finish. The snorkel slides inside the tube and is secured by at least 3 black screws
