Offshore Tampa Bay Mangrove and Yellowtail Snapper Fishing Quick Trip

Offshore Tampa Bay has an excellent habitat for a variety of reef dwelling species such as yellowtail snapper and mangrove snapper. These are very popular species to target while bottom fishing this area. We originally planned to fish for Amberjack, kingfish, and tuna, however our attention was turned to these species as they were abundant on our first couple of stops. The yellowtail snapper were almost non stop! After we burned a few dozen shrimp on the yellowtail, we switched to using jig heads and live greenbacks to get the mangrove snapper fired up. It didn't take long to start hooking some solid snapper nearing 19 inches. These are beast mangrove snapper for an inshore fisherman like me! Mangrove snapper are one of my favorite fish to catch and bring home to the table. It was an all around great day. Unfortunately we were forced to head in early due to what appeared to be some bad fuel we had taken on. That's boating!

@@HeadFirstFishing haven’t been in a while dying to go back but the bite is always great there just got to look for holes and that’s where the snapper, and big gags be at. Also caught a stud Spanish mackerel at skyway
