Never thought there's ever going to be a live symphonic version of a song by a PUNK band, let alone together with Brian May. "Gone away" is just so timeless and universal. No matter what kind of grief or personal tragedy you've experienced, you can always relate to it. Since I first listened to it when I was in school and up to this day I cannot listen to this song and not have tears in my eyes. Hats off to this incredible performance!

Wow. I don’t know what’s happened in the last couple of years but these guys feel reinvigorated. Dexter sounds the best he has done for 20 years. The live shows are varied, interesting and engaging. And they are keeping the old material fresh. Love it. Great to have Brian in this as much as the orchestra. Won’t be to everyone’s taste but I like that they’re mixing it up - I’m a fan. Also, this drummer… we don’t really get to see it in this video but the energy he brings to the band is incredible. Hopefully he’s a long term fixture!

He sings surprisingly better than 15 years or so ago when I saw him at a festival.
@austin87836 ай бұрын
It's clear Dexter lost some weight so that's part of it. He still sings pretty nasally, but it just sounds like he worked hard on his voice the past few years to strengthen it. He used to sound out of breath. These guys have been around and seen it all, it's nice to see them still kicking ass 35+ years later
@EricAmesmusic6 ай бұрын
not to be that guy but I think it's pretty clear Dexter's using autotune on stage nowadays. he's always been a good singer so who really cares, but that's why he sounds so good nowadays. I first noticed it in the video of them playing Million Miles Away with Ed Sheeran. Ed's on and off pitch, like any singer is live, and Dexter is perfect the entire time.

@@EricAmesmusic yeah I remember seeing a video of them playing on some show a couple of albums back, and the songs were all suddenly weirdly pitch-perfect. I mean Dex was a couple cents off sounding like black eyed peas. Having heard certain songs being slightly off pitch live for best part of 15 years the difference was pretty jarring. If he's still using it today they must have taken it down a couple notches as its not so obvious (or maybe the tech has improved, probably a bit of both). I think they probs are reinvigorated though as I think Dex has finished his studies and will hopefully have more time to dedicate to the band and taking care of himself.
