Very true. I won't pay either. 10 euro is mad. There always sh iting on about sports washing, gaa go, selling stadiums names etc. But at the end of the day, these yolks have zero morals, too. Betting sponsorship and now behind pay wall. They are full of sh it.

The specialist backs idea is nonsense, a back row can always claim he plays centre(which is most likely to happen anyway in the event you get more than 2 back injuries

Just have 3 bench players who can only replace 9-15 on the starting team. You can bring him on for the centre then if you want, but you can't replace him for one of the starting back row players.

@@michaelharnedy you’re talking some convoluted technical rule changes, it’s fairly common for centres to cover back rows (as happened in the Ireland France game, both teams had centres scrummaging at various times), would this be banned? This idea sounds a lot simpler than it f is

No, as you said in games sometimes a centre can slot into that job in a pinch sometimes. If you put that type of player on the bench you can replace any 9-15 player, but you can't replace a 1-8 player for tactical reasons. I don't get what is so complex/controversial about this suggestion. In the typical split you already have scope for one lock and one back row on the bench. There's no real "need" to wedge an extra forward on the bench. Honestly I find it a bizarre tactic that relies on no injuries in the backs before musical chairs ensues. Just look at Toulouse v Leinster last year... As it is 3 subs covering 7 backs are spread thin enough. Reducing it to 2 is reckless.

@@michaelharnedy I’m not disagreeing with the second part. I’m a huge fan of having big centre on the bench who can come in and smash through tired midfields. I just don’t think it’s as simple as saying, you have to have 3 backs on the bench. There’s no individual rules in rugby pertaining to positions aside from the front row, even the playing the halfback role applies to any acting halfback, not just the 9. As an example SA teams swap the numbers of the blindside and open side, there’s no actual rules on what numbers must be worn by what position, so a lot of extra laws would need to be made to define the roles of particular numbers.

I am old enough to agree with Matt Williams, I lived in Australia for 40 years and the amount of spinal and neck injuries was off the scale.

Not sure how Matt is trying to correlate the 6/2 split with a potential increase in serious injuries. A 6/2 split would mean you have specialist forwards, replacing specialist forwards.
