Hadn’t heard from him that whole time. He starts calling me because a lot, I think he burned all his bridges with all the old friends back home. I left Cali to get clean in 2013 and he stayed and just sunk further and further into that depraved life. The shit that came out of his mouth caught even me off guard and I’m no twinkle toes. He was spewing some incredibly hateful garbage and it broke my heart. I had really hoped maybe the lock up time would straight his head up a bit. But it made him even worse. I feel bad because me and a friend who was a mutual friend of his but I didn’t know it had moved back to Cali after meeting and becoming best friends in Oregon. We hooked back up in the bay and started hanging out with our mutual friend. He had never tried opiates prior, but we moved back down to the bay with a big opiate habit and asked him if he knew any people who sold. He jumped at the opportunity to help us (he was a younger kid and was trying to impress us looking back on it). After him taking the train from all our old hometown a couple times up to San Francisco where me and Oregon buddy were living at the time, we finally offered to let him have a couple lines of the crushed up roxcys (it was 2010 so it was REAL oxcy) which he never tried before. I tell you what, he was instantly in love with that shit man, it was game over from there. He only had a massive drinking problem at that point but with in like, shoot maybe ten days he was using every single day and it was his new life. He was like a younger brother to me and I have so much guilt over it. He has the most addictive personality of any person Iv known including my self and Its a miracle I’m alive and not high on narcotics all the time. I’ve been to jail 9 times in California, it’s definitely like this everywhere in California. There’s a bunch of rules regarding race and who you can talk to, do business with, how and when you can even talk to them. Races for the most part are trusted to self manage their own races, when one steps out of line, your own race punishes you cause if they don’t the others will. For the most part it keeps most people in line, way more than the guards ever keep anything in line. If you ever go in, in California, just follow the rules, even if you don’t agree with them. Breaking any rule or going against their set way of how the tanks and yards have been managed is a threat to the control and order they do have in there. Don’t be a hero, just do your time and get out.

This is what I get out of this: if I ever go to prison, regardless of state (hopefully that will never happen), the first thing I need to do before anything, is observe and watch. Next thing is try to find an older fella, since he’s old that means he survived. Try my best to stay humble and hopefully find out what are the rules, protocols and taboos. Learn what’s accepted, what’s not accepted, who are the big boys, who are the marks, don’t ask a billion questions, but if I find an OG that don’t mind questions, ask a few at a time, let it rest and ask a few more at a later time/date. Respect others as much as I can but not be weak to the point I have a target at my back. Try and be inconspicuous for as long as I can, and try and link up with others for mutual protection, hopefully without losing too much of my integrity. Again I would NEVER want to be put in this situation in the first place and do my best to avoid it at all costs.
