OG E36 M3: A Much Awaited Update! Techno Violet/M-Cross

This car is coming together. It has not been cheap...but this has been an enjoyable process getting it back to as close to brand new as I can get it. Between the entire interior getting new door cards, fresh fabrics, headliner, audio system, dry ice, and all associated rubber trims and seals, it's looking pretty darn amazing. I'm excited to get the TTX on and see how it rides!

A few minor details that make big difference when get to this level of detail. 1) Vapor hone all of the aluminum - esp if not driving it much. Vanos unit, oil filter housing, alternator, ps pump, ac compressor housing, engine mounts, diff cover everything. It looks 100x better than just cleaned or dry iced. 2) Replace the left side and center grilles on the dash. The printing fades (esp red & blue). 3) replace hazard button. The red fades greatly regardless of how many miles or how stored. 4) If red seatbelt buttons are faded at all replace front assemblies and rear buckles. 5) Your steering column signal stalks look pretty good but I replaced mine twice in 20 years as white printing fades. Last details like this keep car looking and feeling brand new.

It’s funny how certain things never change. I had a buddy about 15 years ago that owned two E36s; I remember one mod was the UUC short shifter. So I respect the mantra of keeping things period correct.

I’m in Palm Beach area. I have a M Rain Dakar e36 M3 with an M3 EVO plate. I’m doing a lot of work to mine as well. My plan is to make mine as clean as possible. Hope our cars can meet up one day like in a Cars and Coffee. Also I think you will love the LTW Wing. Kind of like how you fell in love with the BMW floating center caps. If you can source an authentic or really good replica one get it and the one you have on now you can save for your cooled storage unit :)

I had oem alcantara Vaders, only thing good about them is the looks. When you put in real racing seats on fixed mounts as low as possible, it's a game chager, no turing back.

One other easy drivetrain upgrade is to install a 3.38 LSD From an M3 Automatic. Otherwise a custom 3.64 is the way to go with these cars. With a lift it’s a 2 hr job and makes a big difference in acceleration around town.

Something not as invasive as full headers is the bimmerworld down pipe + resonated mid section built very nicely will enhance overall exhaust sound. Uses your OBD II headers already on car.

quick tip before buying recaro seats We have two E36 M3s coupe 97 and 98 with original manual vader seats My brother is 6’3 and has room left above his head with seat not even in lowest position. on the other hand our friend has 1998 e36 with manual vaders that don’t go low for some reason Are there 2 or more types of vaders, I don’t know. Great content, beautiful rare car Many nice choices for aftermarket wheels but I find the LTW wheels make it look legendary!

@@Euphorica Why? Explain to me why the European lower dash retrofit is "a waste of a mod" in your own words. I am willing to bet that if some euro-spec E36 owner offered you free parts from his parted out car, particularly this specific retrofit, you would say no to this person. Personally, I absolutely hate the bulky driver's side "knee protector" metal cage as it restricts my leg movement.

BBS E87 is the ultimate wheels for e36, super rare, super expensive, best looking imho. (Especially silver middle + polished lip) Not the lightest tho... but also not heavy. BBS RE1000 is runner up, equally hard to find, super expensive, super light, but not so epic looking compared to E87

No not at all. E36 is a classic like the e30. The seats, mirrors etc. e46 is not.

What I was saying though is how much would it cost to do the same on a e46 m3, he said he's into that car 120k. I'm assuming the e46 m3s would have cost even more no? Csl seats, carbon roof, brakes etc.... Am I wrong lol?
