The original Naruto might have been better than its more popular successor Naruto Shippuden.
With its vast focus on a gang of likeable and developed characters, I think Naruto truly may have been a more enjoyable overall experience than Shippuden.

I remember hearing about an interview that Kishimoto did during the war arc where he said that perhaps he had made Madara too strong and wasn't sure how he could be defeated, I know times are different now, but I think the war would have been so much better if Kishimoto took 3 months off to plan out the final arc like Tabata did for Black Clover

Yeah fr! If Kishimoto could’ve nailed the final arc and given the show a good climax, it probably would’ve changed how we all view Naruto. @Bad Take Risan I agree, there's a few other things I'd change about the series in hindsight, like the rinne rebirth after pain's invasion, or orochimaru just becoming a background character and giving up on his goals, but I still think naruto is a legendary series despite it all I'm not too far into black clover, about 25ish episodes in, rn it's solid, but doesn't feel all that original, it feels like it just took a bunch of parts from other popular Shonen and blended them together, but I've heard it comes into it's own later in the series I've been watching the dub of black clover, and I've heard the dub VA for Asta isn't as annoying as the sub VA, but I don't find Asta to be all that annoying, just kinda on the level of early Naruto

Part 1 is very nostalgic for me, I rewatched it when the recent blu rays came out and thoroughly enjoyed it. Definitely a classic. I think Shippuden is on that same level if not better at times. At least until the War arc where the writing is very questionable. As for filler, the canon and filler episodes are usually separated. So now when someone watches today they can easily skip it vs shows like Dbz and One Piece where they slow down the pace of the show by padding canon material.

You make a fair point. I would be inclined to agree but the war arc drags down Shippuden enough that I don’t think it’s on the same level as part 1. You’re right about the filler tho , I probably shouldn’t have included that but the vid wasn’t scripted so I didn’t really think things out . I think the point I was tryna make was about the pacing. In both the anime and the manga, the war arc had very slow pacing. That combined with the questionable writing and bad ending (Kaguya) is enough to put part 1 above it.

I feel like after the Pain arc Shippuden had reached its full potential. After that it started falling off and it felt rushed during the war arc. Kaguya and zetsu put the nail in the coffin ⚰️

I think shipuden started off good, I liked sakura vs sasori, despite what a bunch of idiots say sasori is not the weakest akatsuki member, and seeing sakuras strength, both literal and as a medical ninja, was awesome and made it look like she could have been a great member of team 7, but then her story just kind of fell off from their

Sakura vs Sasori was great. Don’t get me wrong , I enjoyed Shippuden too and it probably had higher highs than part 1. Stuff like the 5 kage summit, Itachi vs Pain and the Hidan and Kakazu arc for example. The problem is the low points are a little too low imo and I think part one was just a more focused , complete and satisfying story.

I also like the original naruto more. In terms of writing, disclosure, lore - everything is very well thought out. In shippuden, the story grows so much that it becomes uncomfortable, there are holes in the logic, new characters are not allowed to open up and old ones are not promoted.

Facts bro! Shippuden grew too big for its own good. I feel like the scale of the story was perfect around Pain but they made it bigger with the war/Madara/10 tails Obito/ 10 tails Madara/ and then Kaguya. It was just too much.

I love how rock lee and garra were the ones to beat kimimaru. Rock lee and garra represent 2 parts of naruto. The loser who has to train and the jinchuriki. In this regard, kimimaru represents sasuke as a gifted ninja with a strong gekkei genkai whose body that orochimaru wants. Kimimaru is what sasuke COULD be. Kimimaru's tragic life hurts more when you realize that natuto couldn't stop sasuke at the water fall. Naruto part 1 did so much right.

It’s from the original show that Tsunade is one of favorite Naruto characters EVER. Easily top 3 imo. She’s is the 5th Hokage! A legendary Sanin and the worlds best and Strongest healer (at the time). She healed Rock Lee bro. She actually did. But my favorite scene is from when Naruto tried fighting her. And when he thought she would just flick him away she accepted him 🥹. And how she saw both Minato and Jiraiya in Naruto. She really is Naruto’s Granny 😅

In my opinion I think the thing that went wrong with you put in is this I think Kishimoto decided to work too much on the idea of making Naruto the main plot of the story and only a small amount of characters then he did everybody else cuz the sad part is I think one of the best fights of all time was Sakura versus saucery along with Granny Chio but that was the only one time she got to shine as a character because I felt like there were more story plots for her and the other characters besides Naruto I think the show could have been like the greatest thing ever cuz the one character I wanted to see shine on top of everybody was actually Rock Lee but hey there writer of the series made his choice and no honesty it's kind of sad because of all the different plots and points to Naruto's world history would have been also amazing to see but hey this is what we got in sadly there's no way Kishimoto would ever want to reboot the series

Your right I should’ve been more clear. I meant he and others fell in to irrelevancy. He was only significant in the Hidan and Edo Asuma fights . For a majority of the show afterwards he wasn’t significant. Of course he was there but it was DBZ esque. Kishimoto put our favourite side characters there and had them fighting filler characters just so they had something to do. If you compare it to the Sasuke Retrieval arc, he just didn’t get the same attention in Shippuden. But fair enough , I can understand how you would see it that way. Anyway i kinda liked Shippuden as much as part one, the only arc with highs and lows Is the war arc imo, the rest Is almost everything at High level: kazekage rescue, hidan/kakuzu, Pain arc, five kage summit are all great (with the part from Deidara vs Sasuke and Itachi vs Sasuke to end of pain arc being peak of all the series)

@@BadTakeRisan Shippuden has many good parts and many bad parts. I think its balancing itself perfectly as a mid show. Shippuden has great fights, with Pain vs Naruto, Sasuke vs Itachi, Team Konoho vs Hidan and Kakazu and has a great Story behind Itachi. But Shippuden forgot that there are other Sidecharacters. Rock Lee, Neji, Shino and many more are totally forgotten, not only in the war Arc. Classic Naruto had a perfect introduction for everyone, expect TenTen, but Shippuden did nothing with it. So calling Shippuden mid is perfectly fine.

You make a great point. The only reason I would object is cause depends on if you think the good outweighs the bad. If we say mid is a 5/10 then I don’t think Shippuden is mid cause I’d give it a 6/6.5. There are more good arcs than bad arcs imo. But I can understand how someone would feel different.
