So his story matches up with two separate individuals. One being "Lala" from East Coast and another being a BGF member. 1. Quote from the book "America's Conduct: Inner City Escort" "The BGF was being dismantled by the Mexican Mafia. In fairness to them, the administration had locked up their warriors, and left the most inexperienced of their organization out there on the main line. They did have some members that would’ve eaten the Mexican Mafia’s members head off for breakfast and lunch, but they were in the hole." So now the question must be asked. If the main Hitters for the BGF were not being Intentionally locked down. What would the outcome had been. Also it shows that the COs consistently helped the other side. As Dr. Neely Fuller said "We have no friends" 2. BGF Member Ashanti A.A. Ali. In his book "Spitfire: Making of a Revolutionary" he does state that as time went on. The BGF became more and more defensive and reactionary. I can't get the exact quote right now, but that's what he said.

Mundo is the one that tells the most stories on bgf back then and he gives them their props. Says they were just as bad as the eme and ab but things didn't always work in their favor cuz the gaurds would set em up or they were just outnumbered. But one of the main reasons is the bgf was usually on the defensive against everyone, they didn't care much for prison politics and power. They were about revolution and anti authority. They were against the man first and foremost and that's the main reason the gaurds set them up and also prolly why they werent as powerful as the other groups. They had a different agenda. But nobody can take away from the bgf of the 60s and 70s those were some bad mfers.

Man! My very first HERO was Geronimo Pratt. When I was little kid. This was around 88 or 89. Everyone was talking about him being an innocent man in jail. He also was a Panther and part of the shootout on 41st and Central. OG Sparks is an OG from the neighborhood I grew up. I got uncles from RAYZ. Just crazy to hear about Geronimo Pratt doing heroin. I also thought he was too sharp in the mind to mess with drugs. But that tells me prison can weaken even the strongest of our soldiers.

Geronimo came out of Vietnam with his addiction. Everyone inside prison knew this about him and I suspect his comrades on the streets knew this before he was framed for the case that lock him up? Don’t take away from his contributions.. understand that no one is perfect.

@@joemosely9383 I never read Geronimo's book, but apparently he wrestled down Jeffrey "Khatari" Gaulden. Stopping him from stabbing a CO who threatened him. Khatari is the one who is in the pic with Yogi, when they're sitting down on the yard. They say the reason why Geronimo wasn't hit. Is because it would have been a bad look politically, for them to do so. Considering who he was.

I heard originally to be BGF you had to have a life sentence. Would that play a part in there numbers weakening? Plus it was quality over quantity with them. I feel like large street gangs like Crips an Surenos just had way to many young battle-ready soldiers for any prison gang including AB, EME, or NF. The BGF didn’t have full support of black population like the rest of the prison gangs had of their population. Nortenos gone ride for NF, Woods gone ride for AB, Surenos gone ride for EME, but when it comes to BGF the Bloods, Crips, Vanguard, CCO, Blue Notes, BL, UBN, or KUMI not so much. Thats the reason for their downfall not having the full support of their people.

The system purposely locked BGF up, crippling their membership on the mainline, hurting their recruiting pool. They seemed more revolutionary than anything, every black prisoner does not buy into over throwing the government or administration. On top of all that.. blacks are broken into too many smaller factions due to difference of agenda and belief systems. BGF, Vanguard, Blue Note, CCO, BL, UBN, NH, GC, Hoovers, SGV, SD, Kumi, and so on.
