A dutch TV crew came to Canada to interview Leo for a documentary that was about him. His wife answered the door and asked how she could help them. They responded, we want to interview the legendary hero of Hollands liberation. She responded "what?!" "Leo what is this?" Leo responded, "Well you told me, you didnt want to hear any stupid war stories"

In the last part, to give you an ideo how big that battle was, 1 Chinese division in the Korean war was 7000 men and he said divisions with a S! That means minimum 14000 chinese vs 19 Canadians.

People talk about what the Geneva Convention is but not why it is. Rather proud that it came to be because of us. Here's a question, during war a Canadian soldier would rather A: Give you the time of day or B: shoot you? Hint, Germans very often got this wrong. August 1918 letter from Lt. R.C. Germain to his parents in Canada that describes the grim aftermath of a bloody battle for a strategic ridge: "After losing half of my company there, we rushed them and they had the nerve to throw up their hands and cry, 'Kamerad.' All the 'Kamerad' they got was a foot of cold steel thro' them from my remaining men while I blew their brains out with my revolver without any hesitation. "You may think this rather rough, but if you had seen my boys go down you would have done the same and my only regret is that too many prisoners were taken."

I am going to suggest you also look up First Nations Canadian Soldier, Tommy Prince. Tommy was a member of the famed joint US/Canada force "The Devil's Brigade". He became one of the most decorated soldiers in Canadian history. He even was one of the few non Americans (at the time) to be awarded the Silver Star. He was honoured with a stamp series and a Canadian Heritage Minute. ( These are 1 minute history lessons told with warts and all, which I would suggest you look also look into as they often depict Canadas efforts during the war of 1812, WW1, WW2 and Peacekeeping). There's a 60s movie about the Devil's Brigade as well.

Canadian soldiers are nice, well-disciplined and well-trained but when the destroy order comes through you don't want to be the enemy Also most people absolutely don't realise just how high a rate of fire must be for a mortar tube to overheat AND warp, they were dishing out a sustained barrage of hundreds and hundreds of shells per minute for that to happen

Leo's story would make a great movie but who will pay to make it. The Americans and Brits make movies about their own history and not Canada. Love to see this one though.

U need to watch the easy to find on Utube video "When Canadians here the world WAR" This will show U how bad ass Canadian Soldiers are. A Canadian held the record for the longest confirmed Sniper kill to a female Ukrainian sniper beat it. At one point in time, 3 of the top 5 distance sniper kills were held by Canadian soldiers.

Close mate, Leo Major clearly was the operative codenamed, 'Naked Snake'. He was trained very very well by whomever was dubbed, 'The Boss'. WW2 was Naked Snake's baby years, obviously. In the Korean war, Snake was tasked with killing The Boss and upon completion of that objective...Big Boss was unveiled, disguised for evacuation (Big Boss's medic became Venom Snake before assuming the title of Big Boss and plotting The USA's destruction.) ,The real Big Boss was then cloned several times afterwards, in order to maintain Big Boss's legacy existence in future generations. (This is where Solid Snake, Liquid Snake and Solidus Snake came from) Where Hideo Kojima learned of all this is back in the 1980s is beyond my comprehension but this now my head-canon.
