When I sew small pieces or tight places I like to use a leader. Just a piece of doubled scrap to begin sewing on then continue onto the shape then clip off the leader and use it again when needed. It helps keep the feed dogs from eating your quilt piece. Your project is very nice! Thank you!

I find it’s also helpful to sew a thick thread with a knotted end, sticking out of the corner seams. Then upon turning inside out, pull on the string gently to bring the point out. Then clip the knot, and slide out the thread.

Love these ornaments - just a comment on sewing those points. I learned many years ago when I actually sewed collars that if you take a couple small stitches across the point before turning to the next side (is that clear?) - the point will actually be much sharper than just pivoting and turning. I haven’t a clue why this works but it does. One of those old time tricks! I do wish there was a printed description of the sizes if squares but I’ll just go back through the transcript and copy down the sizes later on. These would make such pretty items to sell for a quilt guild or just to give as a beautiful gift to friends/guild members. Thanks so much!

I love the idea. I'm going to try it like this except lightly stuff each section, then starting from the trunk, insert each piece into the next so youre you're sewing each section closed. Then before you add the top section, thread a needle with hanging thread and insert it into the tip of the tree for the hanger....tie it off and sew section shut. It's working out in my brain, we shall see how it goes in real life lol😄
