@@peterjoyfilms the trailer is stunning though. I think that the power of the Daleks (special edition) assets and character models are being utilised, so I reckon that it will be good. What's your favourite DW animation?

The Invasion animation from 2006 was done by Cosgrove Hall, who were one of the most prolific animation studios in the UK and had existed for around 30 years by that point so they had a lot more experience given the limitations. They also did Scream of the Shalka, which added an additional hurdle in the fact it was designed for early 2000s internet.

It was the only animated reconstruction Cosgrove Hall ever did for Doctor Who as they were shut down in 2009.

When I first saw the teaser of web of fear animation on DW KZbin channel I genuinely thought oh cool there showing a fan’s animation on there channel (sees there re-releasing web of fear)oh that’s real…shit

I don't think any animation can capture the beauty of how the Yeti look like teddy bears in on set photographs but are terrifying when they move on film. I didn't believe it until I saw it for myself. Hell it even works in Downtime and that was made with the budget smaller than the cost of a signed picture of the Time Tot.

The animation feels like it started as a rigging test to determine where the characters will move and how the camera angles will be used, but then they released it without refining the animation. The big problem isn't that its bad, the problem is that it could have been great.

I know people feel that spending £30 for the steelbook of this is ridiculous but if I want to get the steelbook in the US (who doesn’t get Blu-Ray releases at all for these animated stories) it costs me $70. That’s how much I’m paying for each of these. I can’t justify it for Web. It costs the same as a whole Classic Who season on Blu-Ray. I’ll stick to the regular Blu-Ray for the HD restored episodes.

It is so bad. If only they could have kept up to the standard of the animation from The Faceless Ones, Moonbase, Invasion, The Power Of The Daleks, Fury From The Deep and The Maccra Terror .

Someone in the comments says that Fury From The Deep was done by Big Finish? It wasn't! It was done by some Indian company that woeked on Ren And Stimpy. Even in the making of video the animators admit to have only ever seeing a few David Tennent episodes!

To be honest, I don't like this animation/style of animation. What they are doing with Evil of the Daleks blows this out of the water, IMO. This feels like a test reel or rough draft. While I'm grateful for the option, I think I'll stick with the telesnaps for Episode 3. I do like many of the Web of Fear PS2 memes that have come out of this!

I wish I had seen this video before I purchased the blu-ray. I returned my purchase to Amazon and received a refund. I’ve also complained to BBC Studios about the animation style. I’ll stick to the old dvd release as I don’t want the BBC to think I’m happy with this new animation style

Why the hell did they have to do it in coloured with wide screen. They should of spent that time on improving the face and movement. One thing the background are great.

I agree, This is a great story! I have watched the dvd many times even with the tele snaps. Shame the animation does not look great. They should have gone with Macra style animation. I’m positive I will still get this. But I hope they do not continue with that animation style.

Granted, it’s not great. But at least they were attempting to improve upon some of the more static 2D animations of the past, even if it failed. And it’s better than not having anything at all.

It seems like a noble but, in my opinion, failed experiment. They don’t seem to have had the time or money to make it look good and at some point they just said: “Screw it.” And released what they had.
