Didn't even mention that the dragonbarrow merchant sells infinite serpent arrows. The only other source of these in the game is the snails in the walls of volcano manor, and since killing them gives an okay amount of runes you can run through that corridor two or three times then spend those runes on the arrows to get a full resupply. Also, serpent arrows with the serpent bow has massive poison buildup. Like, 3 shots to poison literally everything massive. Love it for later bosses as it's so easy to proc and gets a lot of damage over the course of a full fight. Dragonbarrow merchant could honestly be S+ tier.

Regarding the disappearing Cracked Pot from the Caelid Highway South merchant: The game will still give you no more than 20 pots in a single run, even if you take the 3 pot starting gift. Taking the gift removes 3 other pots in the world - this one, and two of the four in the Auriza Side Tomb.

Bows are incredibly useful in this game. You can pull aggro from a mile away to break up enemy groups, you can cheese many bosses just by giving them poison or Scarlet Rot from outside their aggro range (even freaking Niall!), and of course you need bows to farm the blood crow at Mohg's palace. It makes your quality of life so much easier, and shortbows are so light, that there's really no reason to ever not have one.

I feel like the coastal cave merchant could have gotten one rank higher just for the broadsword. It is the best non-somber straight sword in the game in terms of damage after all. Sure it doesn't have a thrust R2, or is as long as some of the others, but if it's damage you're after then this is the one you want.

I really like the fact, that the merchants in Limgrave sell Smithing Stones. Sure, the're not unique Items, but hitting them all up allow you to upgrade a weapon to +5 I think, without going into any of the tunnels, which is nice on repeat playthroughs. Also the broadsword is the highest AR Straight Sword in the game, and even though it has the inferior straight sword moveset, it is absolut class in a dual wield build. Also the Saintsbridge one sells pickled turtle necks, and the recipe for that. Hey stamina is useful.

Kale deserves to be AT LEAST A Tier. He's near the beginning of the game and next to a Site of Grace so he's the most easily accessible merchant, very useful early game. Bows are severely underrated cause they're not weapons, they're TOOLS, you use them to peg annoying enemies from afar to weaken or outright kill them before they're at melee range, so him selling you arrows never goes obsolete. And most importantly, HE'S THE ONE WHO INTRODUCES YOU TO BLAIDD.

I'm a little late to the thread here, but a few of the things he trashed I fukken LOVE. Burred Bolts with the Pulley Crossbow is a bloodloss machine. The Dwelling Arrows with the Horn Bow + Enchanted Shot hits like a rail gun and has killer tracking & range. And he VASTLY underestimates the Lightning Greatbolt.. that jawn coming out of the Jar Cannon is an absolute terror, gotta be the longest range in the game and the damage spread (especially on water) is outstanding.

The poison darts and rocks are actually great, means you can poison stuff without losing weapon damage, even if youve pumped nothing but int. Course mages wont need poison since they can just one shot the boss. The imprisoned merchant is also good since the pulley crossbow and burred bolts can pretty much solo the game for you(except the bosses immune to bleed)

Bows are good and I will never not think so. I was only able to beat Maliketh on my first play though with a misbegotten short bow (strength build). The extremely fast and lag less moveset of the short bow offsets the low damage. It’s so so easy to chip down opponents and short bows are straight up the safest projectiles to use in the entire game. Barrage does genuinely good damage as well. The bow ashes of war is how they do good damage, especially with Alexander’s shard. Also they have a talisman dedicated to them doing more damage. I always ran that when I used a bow. The status buildup is just icing on the cake.

I’ve recently started playing elden ring the first and only Dark souls franchise I’ve played and I always hear how useless certain items are but it seems it’s mostly overdramatic like the bows are useful for killing enemies who aren’t tacky from far away and help draw out certain enemies without getting jumped, and yeah those note aren’t very useful but that’s because it’s been out for a while so everything you can just look up but if you’re trying not to do that and be surprised by what the game throws it’s useful, I feel like mostly hardcore fans say they’re useless way too much or just items in general but like I thought the point was build a strat that works instead just using easy weapons idk I’m new so.

Ah, Kale...the only memorable Nomadic merchant because 1. He's the first merchant you find 2. He's named 3. HE'S DRESSED AS SANTA! Seriously -- I actually yelled out "HOLY SHIT! Kids look its SANTA!" The first time I ever played Elden Ring and me and my kids have never lost our wonder for Kale.

10:00 So, I'm not really sure when they took this out but at one point early in the game's lifetime, those notes had a bit of extra lore to them. The Flask of Wondrous Physick note, for example, was written by a high ranking member in the nomadic merchant club that had seen the flask at the Third Church of Marika but couldn't stop to grab it. Kind of a shame that they removed it in favor of "There is a Flask of Wondrous Physick at the Third Church of Marika." Or "You can bring flying foes low with gravity."

Personally. I love them all ever since I made an archer build commited to never using magic. Especially the last one cuz he sells infinite burried bolts and when I don't main a bow with my archer I always have the pulley crossbow in my left hand which makes for easy blood loss build up.

Once you actually UPGRADE a bow it becomes a surprisingly viable option, I can't tell you enough how usefull it becomes when fighting anything that spams magic at you or you want to keep a distance from on low health. Bows are legit great, and once you reach your rune level you don't want to get over (mine is 125), you will get a LOT of useless runes from bosses that you can then use to max out your arrow inventory space and buy whatever you want for your next playthrough. So any merchant that has an infinite ammount of arrows or bolts of some kind is at least a B, except the Mohg palace one, kill him for bearing that trip is not worth it.

Zweihander merchant is S tier because he sells you the best weapon in the game. Oh and he has the lantern and some crafting stuff I guess

I don’t care what any of the merchants sell, Kalé is the best. He has a name, a personality, and a soul. He was one of the first NPCs I ever talked to, and he was nice to me. I go back to him every once in a while just to say hi. Kalé will forever hold a special place in my heart.

Can't take this seriously Anyone that's run a bow build knows they are worth a damn. Blue dancer + the two arrow talismans + the spear talisman and a barrage shortbow can make light work of a lot of bosses in the game.
