"CHENILLE-IT" What a great way to add even more coziness to a quilt. And that fabric is SO cute for a girl. Very thoughtful of you to show us: 1) how you kept the roll of chenille in the bag to keep it from getting tangled; 2) different sewing machine feet that would work for sewing the chenille down; 3) how to attach the chenille so it could be on the binding (it looks like a cool flange!) 4) showing us the lint trap on your dryer with the small amount of lint that came off the quilt. Although this is a basically simple quilt layout, the choice of fabric and your detailed instructions on how to use the chenille made it like the difference between a flat rectangular -- but yummy -- cake to a large sheet cake with detailed decorative icing and candles. I'm tempted to make this exact same quilt as a gift for myself - perhaps to celebrate my next birthday of 70 years of young-at-heart.

Laura, This is indeed a beautiful quilt. You almost make me feel like I need to make one, except that I find quilt-making quite intimidating and I get anxious. I like the chenille strips and the fact that you could quilt it together so "easily". I will play your video several more times before I attempt to make it, but I love the step-by-step instructions. I absolutely loved this. I loved the design and the fabric, so when asked to make a quilt for my friends daughter with a Paris theme, i thought of this. Im quite an amateur, and I had a few problems. I found one layer of the tape did not give a very fluffy effect, so I used 2 layers (I made a test patch). The tape itself is quite narrow and stretchy, and I didnt have a foot like yours. I struggled to keep it flat and straight under the foot. Initially I used a walking foot, but then an ordinary presser foot with a closed clear toe as it held the tape down better. I press my seams to the sides, so when I got to the corners of the blocks, with potentially 4 layers of fabric under the foot, and 2 layers of tape, I found the walking foot bucked around. The presser foot was better. The fact I press to the side also meant the fabric wasnt level beneath my foot, and added to the problems I was having with the tape curling in from the sides. Even though its not yet finished, I do like the effect of the tape, it does set off the squares, Im just a bit anxious it wont be fluffy :)

I'm in love with this quilt! I love the fabrics so much. I am working on a quilt with a similar style fabric pattern- black, white, and a turquoise "pop", but now I am thinking it would really be fun and more special to use this product to "chenille" it 🤓. AND I'm seriously thinking about adopting your pattern from your quilt. Mine would be all same-size blocks, but I like the larger blocks added in ☺️. That will also help with my concerns that my original pattern was going to make a smaller quilt than I wanted. I considered sashing, but I think the pattern you've used would look much better ☺️. Thank you for all your great tips and ideas! 💕💖love from a fellow Laura

saw a tutorial from chenille it and you can stitch the chenille directly to a serged edge on the quilt use the wider stuff and one on each side. This stuff is so easy to use and blooms beautifully.
@Bleuz20108 жыл бұрын
I loved the tutorial so much that I planned 2 quilts with the chenille-it. I felt the rolls were a bit expensive, but I loved the idea. I just finished one quilt and followed your instructions, but I was not happy with the final product. After washing, there was a huge amount of lint all over the quilt from the chenille-it. So, I washed and dried again. Still, a huge amount of lint. I used a lint roller to get the lint off. In handling the quilt, pieces of the chenille-it came out. Now, my quilt has bald spots! Even though I love this look and feel, I won't be using this product again. This quilt is a gift and now, I've got to explain that the chenille-it is going to produce a bunch of lint and fall out. 😢
@SewVeryEasy8 жыл бұрын
I think I know what might have happened! .. the "chenille-it" needs to be stitched down with a reg stitch length. If the stitches are too big it can not hold the fibers onto the quilt and will wash out. Could this be the case?

Love how you try new fabrics. I found you while trying to make a "lay n go" make up bag. With a schrunchie around the outside that just folds down. No more digging thru makeup. But your four corner bags looks similar. I only have a mini portable sewing machine. Idk how to thread it ..... but I would love to start sewing! Would love to know how long you've done this and how you got into it.
