I got a panel today and came here for ideas for ragging it. I love how you think on the fly, my kinda rag quilting! Traditional quilting is not in my wheelhouse, maybe someday. I am going to hand tie the panel section as I can't do more than a (kinda) straight line quilting pattern. April rocks!

That is a great way to make a rag quilt. Very clever, and so pretty for the fall. I am expecting my Q Zone Frame any day now, and I am going to use a Halloween panel to practice on. I love the idea of using the Chenille It
@aprilscraftroom3 жыл бұрын
I can't wait for you to get your qzone hoop frame. I am a panel kind of gal and will use any opportunity to use one in a quilt. And I am not fond of binding so the Chenille - it is a great alternative. Thank you for watching. April
@lynnbellamy28953 жыл бұрын
Love the way you present quilt making process and the different shirts you wear.😊 One idea you may want to use in a presentation is making a quilt using fabric book panels. Each book age could be made into a block. Would be used far more than a cloth book for the baby.

Great job once again. Can you give us an idea of just how long it takes from start to finish? Obviously it takes you longer because of videoing, but those of us who don't work as fast as you could get an idea of the time frame. Thanks!
@aprilscraftroom2 жыл бұрын
Using a panel cuts down the time because it is a large piece. I would say this quilt could be made in 8 - 10 hours if that is all you did and move at a moderate pace. Thank you for watching and commenting. :-). The worst part of this project is snipping the fabric to make it raggy. April
@sharonrolling88372 жыл бұрын
April what did you use for the back panel on the rag quilt?? behind the truck??
@aprilscraftroom2 жыл бұрын
I used a piece of fabric the same size as the panel and it was woodgrain. The same that I used on the sides of the panel. April

Hello! This is the first time I see your videos and I was in awe of how beautiful your quilt came out! I am not a quilter (wish I were) but you have inspired me to try this soon with all the panels I have! I know I've heard of the "Chenille It" before but would you please explain to me what it is? I couldn't see it very well in the video ! Great tutorial. 🤗 Thank you
@aprilscraftroom2 жыл бұрын
Thank you so much! it is like a strip of CHENILLE IT that you sew on ...it looks normal when you are sewing it on ... but after you wash it .. it loosens up and becomes really soft and fuzzy ... I will try to do another video using it soon and zoom in on it the before washing / after washing .. it is so awesome to use! Thanks for your comment April

I love what you did, I’m going to do this to several panels I already have. I love you scissors, can I ask what kind they are? They seemed like they were easy to use (maybe springs)?
@aprilscraftroom3 жыл бұрын
I love the scissors too. The ones I am using are spring loaded by We R Memory Keepers - Crafter's Essentials spring loaded and they are at Joann's. Tonic also made a version call Kushgrip and they are purple, but I don't know if you can still find them. Thank you for watching. April

Hello, Did you happen to record everything you did in the beginning? Such as squaring the panel, adding the batting, cutting fabric for back of panel, trimming the panel. As you can tell, I’m a beginner so I’m looking for all of the previous steps.
@aprilscraftroom4 жыл бұрын
I didn't, but you can watch this tutorial to see how I created the squares using the batting. kzbin.info/www/bejne/qWO8Xneaqat0qdE. The panel is made in the same way - batting cut about a 1/2" small than your panel and the backing. You can quilt it any way you want. Hope this helps. If you have more questions, please feel free to ask and I will try to help as much as possible. :-) April

Sorry it took me a bit to answer - I had to watch it- LOL. That is a Bernina Q16 which is a sit down long arm machine. I love it. The only thing I would change is I want more table from the front of the needle to where I am sitting. Thanks for watching and commenting. 😁 April
