Have to be the Betty Crocker joint...it was worded so it didnt sound forced, again the transitional skills stand out...plus the alliteration bas is good at,especially with the letter B after step on the box he said BET HE...which was cool for BETTY and and then took the Bait so it be sounding so effortless my guy

Out of all the reaction videos I’ve watched, no one catches the Martin Luther/Hoover/Freddy line and connections. Idk if it’s because the channel creators are young or what, but that entire part is one of my favorites. “And I dream like Martin Luther [Fall asleep] (King dying)to the [sound of the hoover] (some conspiracy theorists believe that J Edgar Hoover gave the order to have King killed) Nightmare, (To millions, King’s death was indeed a nightmare)Frederick Krueger,” then Pete connects Freddy and the Nightmare on Elm Street reference …”Money gets made and the packs I’m serving He mess with the cake then I’ll Battenberg him Kipling, missed him…” What I think is one layer of the lyrics, is Bas will beat some ass [Battenberg/Battering him] if someone interferes with the money he’s getting. Another layer is Mr. Kipling Battenberg cake is a well known sponge cake in the UK and it usually doesn’t last long in households from ppl eating it up. So Pete missed the cake that was being served up literally and figuratively. I love the Drip/ Christening, Sheldon/ Shelled on/Big Bang Theory, and the Bet he/ Betty Crocker bars

"Then I switch suits like Mr Ben" is a reference to a 1971/72 BBC cartoon (based on book series from 1967) about a man called Mr Ben who visits a magic dress-up shop, changes into a new set of clothes, and then leaves the shop to have an adventure in a world suited to the clothes (so if he dressed in Arabian dress he'd come out and have an adventure with Ali Baba and the 40 Thieves). So in this reckon they're indicating they get out of trouble quick with a clothes change to avoid the blues in the rear in the next verse.

I took it as an "Uncle Ben's" rice reference because he's in the kitchen cooking, Uncle Ben has a suit on in the picture on the box, and in the marketing Uncle Ben's rice used "whip it up to make your meal complete" because it's minute rice. Pete and Bas's stuff is freaking deep.

@@leviswranglers2813 have no doubt that they had both meanings in mind when writing these bars 🔥 it's definitely the Mr Ben TV show they're directly referencing, but the Uncle Ben theme fits too 😄🔥

Battenberg is a cake with a checkerboard pattern inside made by cutting it up into sections, and it's also the name of the colored markings on ambulances/emergency vehicles in the UK and other countries, so he's using it as a verb in a novel way to mean both 'cut into sections' and 'send to the hospital.'

All the things between the spectrum of Awe and Utter respect! From that jolt of surprise to the light dawning to shock and just processing what you're seeing. I hope they inspire more! They're incredible. Also, I really like your reaction video style. Some interjections and comments are to be expected and desired from viewers for any reactions obviously, but I really appreciated your timing and substance for those comments while allowing time for people to hear the song in a cohesive way without it being stopped every 7 seconds. I loved when you said "Let's just enjoy this", then your moments of commentary were perfectly timed. That's part of the experience together as viewer and creator, you made it exactly what I want out of a reaction video to music! Look forward to more

That 'what's the plan' verse has a crazy good cadence, reggaeton rhythm rapping from fellas in their 70s For non-British folks, the line 'mess with the cake and i'll battenberg him' could be a little bit of rhyming slang for 'merk' which means murder, but more like is that battenberg cake is cut up and rearranged into squares in a chequerboard pattern. UK ambulances have a chequerboard pattern to stand out. So what he's saying is that if you mess with his 'cake' (money; "my slice of the pie" in American perhaps?) you'll get cut up and put in an ambulance. Pete follows it up with 'Kipling' and Mr. Kipling is a UK cake brand. Genius. :D I've seen people suggest that Kipling also refers to writer Rudyard Kipling, whose son John died in battle but his body was never recovered, but I think that's a stretch even for Pete and Bas.

@@presidentresident No ghostwriter. Both claim crimes you can trace pretty easy. Pete's Grandkids taught them the current slang, everything else is a 50 year old true story as far as the gangster aspect goes. These two were probably the hitter team for the Cray's at some point. Pete calls out a couple hoods in the vid. That was Cray territory. All the young Drillers, who are actual gangbangers BTW, show these guys a level of respect you'd show a Don. Both are legit retired badasses.

Yooooo, these OG's go CRAZY!!! 🤣🤣🤣 This is going to be A LOT, but unless I'm looking into it too much, that MLK line is one of the coldest I've ever heard!!! "And I dream like Martin Luther, Fall asleep to the sound of the Hoover Nightmare, Frederick Kruger Sleep with the fishes now he's tuna!" 1st Meaning: He dreams big like Martin Luther and at night he uses the sound of the Hoover (vacuum) to sleep. But, he's so terrifying on paper/real life that he's got you thinking of him at night! So keep your eyes open, because once you sleep, you'll be left behind, "dead" & canned like tuna. 2nd Meaning: He dreams big like MLK and has a platform. This makes him a problem in the industry! You become a problem, you get placed on peoples' radar! MLK; was infamously and allegedly assassinated by the FBI. FBI director at that time of assassination was J. EDGAR HOOVER! Him dreaming as big as he is and them having the platform they do makes him a nightmare for the "industry". The only way you can get rid of him is by killing him, leaving him "dead with the fishes and canned" I might be digging, but that's what I got from that section! Nonetheless, these OG's PETE & BAS GOT A NEW FAN!!! 🔥🔥🔥

You missed the fact that he said . and I dream like Martin Luther, and then ends the verse with 'don't care about color, black or white we can still be brothers' - which was MLK's actual dream. Crazy stuff man.

For those that don’t know, at 8:39, “grab that stick now I’m dipping and swerving. Flick of the wrist and left him gurning.” “Gurning” is when a person makes the most twisted face they possibly can. So, he dipped and swerved so sick, he left witnesses behind pulling twisted faces. Sick rhyme.
