For those wondering about that street culvert, the amount of cover on top is what spreads the load to an acceptable weight limit for trucks traveling above. The deeper you go the more you spread the weight. Sure, they could have brought in a steel reinforced concrete box type culvert but those are more expensive.
@TankMastersEnvironmental4 ай бұрын
I have a little video of it going in Rupe \
@staind2884 ай бұрын
Don't think the reinforced box would work. Those need to be deep. They had limited depth to go on due to buried utilities. That's why they're using this narrow culvert
@rupe534 ай бұрын
@@staind288 Yes, I caught the bit about other utilities down there but point being they also said it needed at least 12" of cover so are raising the road. It's all about engineering cost versus strength. The metal culvert is the cheapest way but needs more cover than steel reinforced concrete. Another reason to go shallow would be the depth of the stream. A culvert that's deeper than the stream (to gain flow?) will collect dirt and clog. It's all a compromise.

Excellent job in restoring the area so that it blends in with the rest of the property! Using that crushed concrete certainly was a good solution both for dealing with the water and for having a properly compacted base. That concrete will become hardened and might help out with water intrusion into the house foundation. Great skill shown when retrieving that Monster can!

Hi brian, what was the cost roughly for this job it looks expensive for the homeowner. I'm so gutted for homeowners because I believe either insurance companies or the government should pay because it was them who said to have tanks underground.....people who work all their lives pay the mortgage off then end up with a massive bill it's wrong....
@rupe534 ай бұрын
underground tanks are allowed but were never mandated. Besides, you still need to maintain things, even when hidden, which was the original idea behind removing them from a basement and gaining the space inside the house.

@TankMastersEnvironmental that is cheap considering the work involved and the disposal of contaminated soil....also I'm surprised the insurance paid especially when brian said it was very unlikely he's normally correct...great news for the family tho....
