I've put swampy ditch water in a rad once to limp it home, did the job. Mechanic was giving me the side eye. Lol, he got fed up with replacing my block heater plug after the third or fourth time and sat me on a bucket and taught me how to do it myself. He used to share shop space occasionally with my dad before he died and was giving me some much needed dad energy, good guy.

Dirt in the fuel filter or a pin hole in the float

If you don't mind a suggestion, you should keep a bottle or two of sterile eyewash around the shop in case you get hit by fluids or debris again. Most drug stores have it available. Another hack for an overheating Engine is to turn the heater on full blast. It's uncomfortable, but it draws heat off of the engine.

Yes. But this trucks heater didnt work. I found out why in a later episode.

We never put anything but tap water in our mix with antifreeze. Didn’t harm a thing. So you were safe in doing what you did. Some of these adventures are just hilarious to watch, hopefully you don’t mind if we laugh at your troubles. ❤❤

It would had been better to flip the hose so that that coupler piece attached to the bottom of the rad, making it less prone to rub on anything when it bulges out. Either way you fixed it temporarly, good job!

The hose didn't fit over the water pump is the issue. I should have explained that.

Sorry Josh as a 68 year old I had to laugh when you talked about people just use to use their garden hoses too fill their radiators. What else would we have used back then? It was standard practice at any gas station. Love that truck btw.

I forget what i said but, I think I said, that they do that now. But even still Engine coolant has been around sinse the 30's or something. So I guess back then you would use coolant. But of coarse I wasn't around and I only know about what I know about, which is the minerals in your tap water is terrible for engines because when it boils away it leaves mineral deposits and causes corrosion. Lots of people still do it today, but I try not to if I don't have to.

Enjoy watching this Josh..it brought back, oh such fond memories, of my car breakdowns. My 1st car (Ford Escort), I swear, broke down EVERY single wkend! Then I had a cool MR2 that before everything was fixed, it would decide to overheat in the summer time..I would literally have the 2 windows rolled down, the sunroof opened & the heater on full blast driving down the fwy (thinking to myself, please don't breakdown on the side of the fwy)😂 Oh those where the days LOL
