Hello exactly the same problem I have here in France. Very rainy spring makes the grass flies, they don't cut it for hay harvesting, the cows can hardly eat up all that grass, the ploughed fields are all sown or too muddy for detection. It sucks really. I am kind of unemployed like you. I sympatize all the more to your misfortune. I still found a XVIII th century knee bucckle and a piece of bronze age knife blade yesrday in a pasture.
