I'd love to have a Data to take the place of my gigantic Tektronix oscilloscope. Although, there is some real magic to old analog scopes. Makes me feel like a mad scientist. Which I sort of am... well, not the scientist part. But the madness is there. Thanks for the video. Getting a Marbles in a week or so and I'm very excited.

Great walk through of the patch! I love that you're showing how to use the different functions musically as you are explaining them. It's in the actual turning of the knobs that you get the best chance of understanding of how they interact. Marbles seems fantastic and there are also smaller modules that offer nearly all of its functions. The Turing Machine is one example and Ladik S-090 Dual probability skipper is another. I use the Eloquencer since every step in each of the 8 tracks can be set to randomize pitch, note length, repetitions and likelihood of occurring in the first place. Ableton just released a Probability Pack and in Bitwig there are tons of possibilities of including and limiting chance.

True! One thing I am slowly starting to realize specially about Modular, is that there are several ways to skin a cat, each tool presents itself as a musical instrument instead of just a tool, so the interesting ways that the parameters play off each other and the play-ability of the entire module all come into play. The plus side about Marbles is the Y section which i'm still trying to wrap my head around but it seems the output is dependent on the relationship between X and T. But yea that being said I don't own this Marbles, it was a loan from a very nice group called Mother City Modular, I'm looking into some single cheaper modules for my own kit that are more controllable in each section, but they may not have the overall functionality - that's where modular shine, just add the functionality with another module :)

Really awesome explanation.. Looks like a lot of random fun

Thanks man! IT IS! And I only explored 1 out of each sections 3 modes, when you start hooking up multiple voices you can invert X section outputs and all sorts of crazy stuff!

That's sounds really good ...... Is there any vst pluggins where we can do this type of randomised sound ......but Not in vcv rack

I haven't found anything with this level of play-ability to be honest, maybe some developer is seeing this - holds thumbs

You can get pretty close using a combination of M4L LFOs plus Live's Velocity and Random MIDI DEVICES.
@fakshen19736 жыл бұрын
I think you could do it in Ableton Live. There's an additive synth by the name of Operator. I believe you can automate most of the parameters via M4L devices using some random goodness. I believe they also came out with a new set of sequencers for Ableton that deal in chance and probability and can be mapped to any of their native devices and even VSTs.

Hey Dash, what monitors are you using? Is that the bass port surrounding the HF drivers? Cheers

Hello, I'm using the Emes Quartz - it is a bit of a unique design, however it aids in equal dispersion, so I have a very wide sweet spot which is good because some of my synths are sitting to the side. Anyway they're not the most powerful on the low-end but I prefer it over much of the other options in the price range on the local market which tend to have a bit of a boosted low-end :) I do plan on pairing the sub with them at some point www.emes.de/pageseng/products/equartz/equartz.htm

Ah I want a Marble so bad!!! Im pretty sure that "FM" trick at the end is amplitude modulation, its kinda like FM and ringmod had a baby.
@DashGlitch6 жыл бұрын
If the output of the sine went into the VCA it would be AM, but it's modulating the frequency so it is FM, however it's not "exponential FM" which is what we usually know from software etc, it's "linear FM" - unless I have them mixed up :)
@vivianedwards32056 жыл бұрын
@@DashGlitch Woops I misunderstood what you were doing. Yeah your right that thats FM.

is there a module in vcv rack similar to the mordlax data? :O
@DashGlitch5 жыл бұрын
Well it has got several functions in one, I don't think there is a single one that can do it all, but there are scopes/oscillators and all sorts :)
