Just realised, in green mode, if bias sets the centre frequency, then the output will be like choosing modal scales. For example, if the centre frequency is chosen as an E, then the resulting scale output would be a ‘Phrygian’ mode. If A is centre, then you’d hear the scale as ‘Aolian’ 😎❤️
@DivKidАй бұрын
Unless it's just a raw offset from which the scale value is set. Then it's still a major ionion just starting from a higher voltage. To be honest I can't remember is the bias offsets centre frequency pre or post quantising.

I have one of these as my main source of modulation for a Morphagene. But I I find the random stepped voltages it sends out to be too chaotic, and I’m looking for something to smoothly (and randomly) modulate and change/shift parameters in the Morph (I guess more like the Y generator). Any suggestions on another module that could do this (and maybe smaller hp than Marbles too)?

@MYGAS219 ай бұрын
I use Eurorack as a Guitar Efffect. In the VOLCA MODULAR (again used as a guitar effect), I would use the S&H function to sample my Guitar using the Oscillator as an audio rate trigger, to sample it. I wonder....Marbles seems very promissing.
@DivKid9 ай бұрын
audio rate sample and hold is fantastic, one of my favourite things. You get all those great aliasing style tones and it gives you a sample rate (like how CDs run at 44.1kHz, people record higher now etc) and you can screw with it with the oscillator. Fun when the oscillator is playing a pitch sequencing so you imparted overtones follow a pattern.

@DivKid6 жыл бұрын

Hi Wilfred, the knob for clock rate is a timing multiple or divider when you plug in an external clock. Try adjusting that and adjusting the timing divider button.

@@DivKid Aye I have done this.... I dont know! i'll keep on plugging away anyway thank you!

Excuse me for the clueless newbie question but, do T, Y and X function as Inputs as well as outputs? I'm unclear as to what's producing the drum sounds and how the Output is making it to the mixer. Thanks.
@DivKid Жыл бұрын
No worries, nothing is "clueless" or rather we're all clueless until we know so it's good to ask questions :) The T, Y and X are all outputs. Mutable Insturments often dictate outputs with the grey border/block area around those connections. They can't also be inputs as the signal flows one way. Marbles doesn't make any drum sounds by itself, those outputs go out to modulate or trigger other modules that are then mixed and recorded separately. I hope that helps and feel free to ask any questions anytime.
@roboticgirl6 жыл бұрын
When externally clocked, why does Rate still effect tempo?
@DivKid6 жыл бұрын
Hi Sheila, the rate knob becomes a divider or multiplier for the tempo when externally clocked. So with a clock in and the knob in the mid 12 o'clock position it just works at that rate. Turning it to the left will divide the tempo, so if you clocked it with a 16th note, you could do 8th notes, quarter notes, full bar timing etc. Turning it to the right you'd get 32nd notes, 64ths etc. It means you can tailor the tempo to musical divisions which is really useful.
@roboticgirl6 жыл бұрын
Thank you, that's very helpful. I have one more question. My length knob doesn't seem to be turning length, not sure if there's some trick to using length?
@copypaste35266 жыл бұрын
I wish they would make this for vcv rack.

I think it will be on VCV at some point. Olivier releases all the code/files after recouping so much investment so when that happens it should all be available and someone can make the port across to VCV.

At 23:26, shouldn't it output a medium C (the actual center) instead of an F ?
@DivKid6 жыл бұрын
I didn't tune my oscillator so take the notes as a series of intervals not finite values. I don't tune my oscillators to anything other what I feel like at the time unless I'm working with other instruments or a patch that needs to be recorded and recalled.
@louiswarynski90396 жыл бұрын
Yeah but with Spread at full CW, it sounds as a two Cs (two octaves distant), so i would assume it should sound the middle C with Spread at fully CCW.
@DivKid6 жыл бұрын
spread fully up is just the highest and lowest possible values. Spread all the way down is no spread from the centre point, that's set by the bias. So the bias would be the thing changing that value.
