There have already been a lot of comments stating that we should have cut the pipe loose. We did consider that as a first option. The problem with that option was the amount of stored energy is the heavily twisted trailer. Even if restrained, it would have been dangerous for personnel to cut the straps & chains, because they would have had to be, more than likely, standing on top of the trailer. We did not want to take that risk.....period. Thanks for watching and God bless.
@RonPratt5 жыл бұрын

@coypatton31605 жыл бұрын
To cut the pipes loose safely, the load/trailer would have had to be lifted at least 1/3 to 1/2 of the distance to set it back on the wheels. Then it would have had to be sat down, the pipes released (remember at this point Ron has 2 winch lines on the load) which is not simple at this stage. Then re-rig to right the trailer. Now he has a full load of pipes to reload.

This has easily become my favorite video. Not for the length of the video. Not for the level of difficulty of the job. Not even for seeing the tator working hard. But rather for seeing 3 generations working together. I spent from August 2007 until October 2019 working side by side with my dad every day on our dairy farm. Now that I sold the cows and took an off farm job we don't get to spend as much time together as we both would like but those memories will last forever and new memories are to be made. But seeing you, your dad, Talon and Ethan all working together on a job just makes me smile and take a trip down memory lane. Working with family can sometimes be difficult but in the end it's always worth it. Thank you for putting a smile on this recovering dairy farmers face!

As always you did a great job. Those "things" are pipe pins. He had his trailer rigged totally wrong. In the oil field we put a quart inch by 6" flat bar all the way across the bed of the trailer. It is welded to the trailer on both sides. (One on each end of course). At the end is a pocket for a heavy pipe 5 feet tall. ( the bottom of the pocket has a support bar or angle welded to it and back to the frame of the trailer. )The reason for the flat bar across the bed is it ties the two sides together and prevents spreading. Those little pipe pins placed in the pockets of the rub rail will twist and break those little pockets Ron. You had a right to be tense and if you knew what I knew about hauling pipe you would have been supper tense relying on those pockets in the rub rails to hold that weight -- PLUS the tension you were placing on them by moving the pipe under stress against them. Pipe is indeed one of the most dangerous of solid loads to mess with. Had my right leg crushed by huge dredge pipe in the mouth of the Mississippi River back in 75'. God bless you and your family. I sure would like to meet you and your "crew".

Loaded flat-beams lying on top of each other have surfaces and lots of friction; but circular pipe sections only have a single point of contact so not any friction, so they will roll around first chance they get. What probably happened here is that taking the bend caused the pipes to roll around each other. Once that started the load got out of static balance and the rest, well...Ron and his trator!

WOW!!!! That was a job and a half! You said that there was 3 generations of Pratts on this job. You sounded very proud with good reason. That's great that you get to work with your dad. I worked in the dairy industry with my grand father and my dad while I was growing up. Had to go to Vietnam for 16 months and when I got home I went to work as a helicopter pilot for a TV Station so I didn't go back with my family. I sure did miss it. Glade that you have a great family. May GOD bless you and your family always .

I think of all the videos I've seen this was one of the most challenging/dangerous. Good job as aways!

Of all your videos this had to rank near the top for excitement as your crew worked very hard to rescue and redirect. Thanks for the valuable lesson in teamwork solving the overturned unit with cargo. Thanks Ron for remaining diligent and not overheating.

The driver sure had that secured well, roll over and the load stayed on
@keithsawyer63564 жыл бұрын
Not sure about that, looks like the load shifted before the truck went over.
@sniperace7654 жыл бұрын
@@keithsawyer6356 it did, the truck driver was my dad and he said the load shifted on him.

CHRIS HARTMANN yup I see so many Idiots do this. I’ve never lost a load in 20 years trucking . Slow and steady when cornering

Woulda taken an awful lot to make the load shift like that on the straight.

My dad said the load shifted on him when he took the turn and it slammed his cab down once the trailer flipped.

Just found your site. Awesome job getting it done fast, right, with consideration of the cops and traffic. As a former officer I always appreciated wrecker drivers and how well they did their job. God bless.

And I assure you I'm taking a new respect for your occupations danger and respect the lights and move over. And I hope correctly hooking the safety chains on my camper like you show on your hooking. I am impressed by your skill and patience to complete the job safely. I am an engineer, certified crane operator and inspector, certified welder. I know all the book stuff and can puke it up for a test. The reality all that knowledge is worthless against a man with you skill operating a piece of equipment and controlling a ton of indescribable physics to gently set a wreck down on its feet. You deserve a ton of respect for what you do and the fact you are not afraid to comment about a bit of prayer at times. God Bless Brother in Christ.

Congratulations gang ! ! That was a very interesting video to watch! ! I would have a panic attack if I would have watched it unfold live ! ! Wonderful that no one or any of your equipment was damaged in this video! ! But I kept thinking when it came up on its tires, it was going to hit the rotator! ! But you are the man who KNOWS HOW HIS EQUIPMENT WORKS AND WHAT IT CAN DO IN TIGHT SPACES ! !
