Oh, Streetcar! is a strangely upbeat musical version of A Streetcar Named Desire.
Taken from the Season 4 Episode "A Streetcar Named Marge".

Ironic that despite the incredibly misplaced upbeat tone of the play Homer was the only one to truly understand how depressing the story was

I can never tell if the ending song is a deliberate misreading of the play and instead what people expect from a musical (night, chipper, cheerful), or if it's supposed to show how Blanche's mind has snapped and that this is the fantasy world that she now lives in in her confused broken mind because it's nicer than the real one.

In my High School theatre, every year each Senior got to say something every night in the group huddle before going on stage. When it was my turn in my senior year... "Perhaps we are all a little mad we who don the cap and bells and tread beneath the presidium arch..." I then pointed to the lead actress and said "Except you, you're not working out. I'll be playing your part." (I'm a guy)
