Oh, That's Why Balaam Was Wicked... Bible Study 090

In today's Bible study I finally find out why Balaam is called wicked in the Bible, even though the only story I know about him is about him doing what God tells him to do.

😁 Ahhh, that put a big ole smile on my face. Thanks for that. Very fun to hear you attempt my surname as well! This story though. Wow. This dude was seriously without excuse. He heard from God. He was aware of the reality of God. He was USED by God. And still he aligned himself with the wrong side. It makes me think of how Jesus said if the works that were done there had been done in Sodom and Gomorrah, they world have believed and repented. Belief isn't anything without humility and repentance. Woooow. This is a very important story. But yeah

I've got to give the credit where the credit is due. Thanks for being Epic! Jesus said people will come to him after they die and say I did all these things in your name and He's going respond, "depart from me, I never knew you." Makes you think. I was saying be like Balaam, but in the end he wasn't really doing what he was supposed to. He did things in God's name, but he didn't really know Him. Really knowing and having a relationship with God is what matters.

@@JosiahDouglas I was thinking of that same verse. It's not enough to do things for God. It's not enough to hear God. We have to know Him.

That thought should scare us. Honestly, I don't think many Christians, including me, think about that and what that really means for our salvation.

@@JosiahDouglas It's really true. The New Testament is full of warnings to hold onto the faith. To encourage and stir up within one another. To run the race. It's so easy to be a pharisee. It's so easy to be a a clean cup on the outside but to be utterly disgusting inside.

Awesome reference! If you also read Numbers 25:1-9, this happened almost immediately after Balaam blessed Israel. All makes sense now.
