For future reference, birds expend a huge amount of energy to stay warm. This energy is calories. Warm sugar water can go a long way to reviving weak birds of any age, but especially young ones. Excellent job at reviving them. Happy you didn't lose them all.
@mikewazowski7830
@mikewazowski7830 Жыл бұрын
That's if you are able to get them to actually swallow that water The quickest way is to use a combination of that method as well as theirs and a heat lamp not super close but the heat lamp provides steady heat that the air would be blowing from the hair dryer of course you're not trying to use high heat so you're keeping it barely on them but the steady heat of the heating lamp being over top of them and a heating pad being underneath them as well as once they are able to move around getting them to take in sugar water that would be the best method to really bringing a almost frozen bird back to life

I volunteer in the waterfowl nursery at a wildlife rehabilitation center. Sadly, 4 ducklings passed away last night (probably because of stress and most of them are from the second batches of this year). And another one had to be euthanized due to an illness. It really makes my day to see all of those turkey babies survive. And r.i.p. to that peachick.

We had something like this happen with our meat birds last year. They were out in a area, just for the day and a storm kicked up. I’ve donated to your cause and one other at Omaze. My husband is showing signs of dementia and we lost our home 7 years ago. I’m hoping for some type of permanent home for him to get used to before the dementia is full blown. Living in rentals and changing every couple of years will not be good for him. You guys are so dedicated to your animals! I am a fellow chicken/poultry enthusiast. Everyone who knows me thinks I'm TOO obsessed with chickens, but how can I NOT try to identify a chicken's breed on sight if it appears for one second in a movie?! (I'm pretty sure one of Belle's chickens in the live-action Beauty and the Beast is a sapphire gem!) I just have a small flock of 4 pullets and 2 chicks, but when I grow up I plan to have a big property, maybe even a homestead like you guys, but mainly I really want chickens wherever I end up going in life. Thanks for your content. It's really amazing and meaningful to me.

@@whitehouseonthehill I’ve dealt with chicks stomped on by a large dog who thought they were living squeak toys. We were sure the whole batch was done for. Broken wings, broken leg, missing skin (in one instance, when I lifted the chick’s wing every bit of their side was exposed muscle). We didn’t lose a one.

My chickens would never stay in those fences because apparently their favorite activity is flying and I dont know why people say chickens cant fly they cant fly as large distant aces as other birds but THEY FLY

When they were putting them in the tub I 100% thought they were dead. No movement, stiff, eyes closed. This was amazing to see

Thank God all the poor babies survived! (even though they're destined for freezer camp) I've always heard turkeys are dumb enough to drown in a rainstorm.... So lucky you were home to swiftly rescue and revive them.

I grew up on a farm. Baby turkeys and baby geese had to be sheltered until they were big enough to fend for themselves. My Mom always said ," they have the common sense of a turkey to get out of the rain" for exactly the reason you just dealt with. The weirdly walking peafowl needed its feet taped. That's why it was walking differently.
