Raydio were a great band, in 1980 they changed their name to Ray Parker Jr and Raydio. Other great tracks to check out by them, 'Jack and Jill', 'This is a Love Thing', 'More Than One Way to Love a Woman', 'Rock On', 'For Those Who Like to Groove', 'Two Places At the Same Time', there are other tracks but these are some of my favourites.

Ray Parker, Jr. is a really great artist, he is SO MUCH MORE than that goofy Ghostbusters song. His best work is in Raydio and as a solo artist. He had many hits in the late 70s through the mid 80s. Love this song 🎵

"You Can't Change That" is one of my favorite songs from Raydio. If you like this one, you should listen to their song, "A Woman Needs Love (Just Like You Do)." It has a similar musical feel to this. The song is basically a message to all the guys that if you don't give your woman love and devotion, she'll get it from someone else. It was written as an answer to an earlier Raydio song, titled "Jack and Jill" (also a great song from them.) That song describes how "Jack" is lonely and wanders down the hill to find love elsewhere after being neglected by "Jill," who is seldom home.

What a wonderful song. Loved hearing it back in the day. I was going to make a pithy comment about "modern audiences" clutching their pearls about the lyrics and then Ambe! Amber! Amber! You go and do it! Girl you need to listen to your man Jay. He's got it right-the man on the song is speaking metaphorically: No Matter what he's in love with the woman and nothing will ever change that. Good on ya Jay.

What i hear in the song is that he is just listing things she has control to change, her hair, her name, her address, and then saying that one thing she can't change is his love for her. He is not saying he is going to follow her around. I'm glad i grew up in the 70s, a more innocent time, when we heard love in songs, not criminal intent.

This was the JAM in the Summer of '79!🌞 The tenor lead singing the higher notes on "You Can't Change That" is Arnell Carmichael. Ray Parker Jr. is the baritone lead who's playing the bass. You should listen to Raydio's "Jack and Jill" and the funky, bass-heavy "For Those Who Like To Groove". BTW: Ray Parker Jr. is a legendary guitar player and songwriter who has worked with everybody from Aretha Franklin to the Carpenters to Stevie Wonder. ⭐

I had a really cool chorus teacher in the 8th grade. this song had just come out a few months before and much to my surprise, we sang this song in chorus that fall. it felt so radical to be singing a song in chorus that was also currently on the radio. it actually has really cool harmonies. whenever I hear it now, I am right back in the 8th grade tenor section singing "you may change a dollar bill. but let me tell you one thing-you won't change the way I feel!!!" (it was too high then, it's too high now-but I still love it!) thanks for posting.

Ray Parker Jr. is pretty much the black Glen Campbell. He started off as a sought after guitar player for Stevie Wonder, Barry White, Marvin Gaye, and also played rhythm guitar for Rufus &Chaka Khan's song You Got The Love. You can see clips of him playing with Stevie Wonder on Sesame Street. He originally intended to give this song to The Spinners but ended up recording it himself. My favorite of Raydio song. Ray Parker Jr. in the center. Arnell Carmichael (orange) made this video awesome with his moves and vocals indicative of his enthusiasm and talent! His brother, Darren Carmichael (red) on keyboard comes in with some vocals at the end. Thanks for sharing!

I spent the summer of 1979 working at Glacier National Park, Montana, and the Top 40 station CJOC 1220-AM up in Lethbridge, Alberta played this song all the time. This brings back many happy memories of that summer at Glacier NP for me, and the spectacular, scenic hikes that I did there. They also played this song a lot on 1180 AM KOFI in Kalispell, MT. Even back in 1979, Ray Parker Jr wasn't afraid of no ghosts. :) I understand Amber's concerns about his song having a creep factor.
