The song Nani sings to Lilo was originally sung by Lydia Liliʻu Loloku Waiania Kamakaʻeha. She was the queen of Hawaii till the US government locked her in her home and overthrew. This was her goodbye to her people :((

Oh wow really?? That's so sad :(

I feel lucky to have gone to a school, shockingly in the Midwest, that told us this. There’s a video on KZbin that goes over the history of Hawaii, I explained the gist of the history to my bf before we watched it because he had no idea. The history always makes me sad. I always wonder what Hawaii would have become had it not been colonized the way it was. Hawaii was already being colonized well before the US even did their thing. But what happened to the Queen was beyond despicable.

Not everyone catches it but in the beginning Lilo says she bring the fish, Pudge, a peanut butter sandwhich because he controls the weather. She’s trying to keep another storm from taking anyone else she loves by pleasing who she thinks controls the weather 😔💔

It’s In relation to her parents. Understandable, but sometimes it doesn’t always work that way

I like to think that Lilo's hobby of taking candid pictures of tourists started out of spite from those same tourists probably taking unwanted pictures of her because she's a native Hawaiian girl and basically part of the scenery to them. There's a deleted scene where she gets hassled by some tourists and then she tricks them into thinking a tsunami is coming lol
@sososlugg14236 ай бұрын
One of the reasons Lilo gives Pudge the fish a sandwich is because in her mind, he controls the weather. If he's happy, it won't rain and Nani will be safe. And if you look at Nani's room, she was a champion surfer. She probably had dreams of going pro but when their parents were killed in the storm, she had to give up those dreams to get a job to take care of her sister.
That speech Stitch gives the Grand Councilwoman gets me every time: "This is my family. I found it all....on .... my own. It's little and broken, but still good. (looks back at Nani and Lilo) Yeah....still good." 🥺😭 Also, to answer a question on how David "spit" fire that I've seen a few times in other reactions: Fire dancers drink (but most importantly, don't swallow) either straight alcohol, kerosene or paraffin lamp oil from a bottle and spit it out onto the flame to make it erupt, so that's most likely what he used.

as much as i like Jumba as a character, the scene where he confronts Stitch, basically treating him like a weapon, than his own child (which Stitch technically is) gets a bit undercut by how comical the confrontation gets, when he tries to catch Stitch on his own. like seriously: he's telling Stitch, who just went through emotional turmoil, who basically hoped for a family appearing to love him, by imitating a story that moved him to the core, that he doesn't even Stitch him as a living being, but his self-made tool! and that's... Cold. i feel like, the movie could've treated him a tad more seriously. though i do appreciate that his redemption, while not noticable at first glance, is believably gradual.

I always told my son, when things were rough, that this was our family. It was little, and broken, but still good. I think this movie is my second favorite (first is Mulan). I'm glad you guys are going through Disney movies because I watched them again and again and again with my son while he was growing up

My old friend Dennis Kamakahi wrote and sings the song "Always" when stitch dies... The song is an ancient Hawaiian song that a lady sang when her lover fell into a volcano in hawaii. The man came back to life from the power of her song and love for him

Omg I'm so happy to see you two react to this, Lilo and Stitch is one of my favorite movies ever!! Fun fact: It's one of only 3 Disney films to feature genuine hand painted watercolor backgrounds :) It's also the only Disney movie to represent & give a voice to children who have had social services remove them from their home/family. Definitely tugs on the heartstrings! ❤

Several members of my family went on a Disney World trip, probably about 10 years back. They were texting to keep track of where everybody was at, occasionally. My mother voice-texted a message with something about 'Ohana' in it, and the phone translated it to 'iguana.' Ever since then, we say 'Iguana means family,' And sometimes give each other Iguana-themed gifts. Really, though: Nani shouldn't have left Lilo alone when she went with David to see about the job; it wouldn't have been impossible, and I don't think the employer would have turned her down just because she couldn't get a sitter.
@canaidavis85736 ай бұрын
Yeah, Nani shouldn’t have left Lilo alone, but every time she brought Lilo to an interview, she didn’t get the job since Lilo stirred up trouble. And there’s no way in hell they could leave Stitch at home alone 😂

A lil tip: burn dry coffee grounds. It will keep the mosquitoes and insects away😬 Put a bunch onto a place or bowl, but make sure to cover the plate/bowl with foil 1st. The. light the grounds until smoke starts to form.

People don’t realize Nani is only 19. She gave up a future surfing career to take care of Lilo. Any 19 year old thrust into a parent role would be struggling especially with a 5 year old like Lilo 😂

Lilo and Stitch is one of the best movies I've loved. This has full actions, great songs and funniest moments. Important lesson to learn is that Ohana means family and family means nobody gets left behind or forgotten 🥹🥹🥹💖💖💖🤣🤣🤣
