Absolutely, yes. I relate to this particular song because "I feel numb in this kingdom" IRL. It's a soundtrack for me. Ironically, listening to a song about feeling numb while numb is a great way to actually feel something. When I'm sad and I listen to sad music, it makes me feel better. For example, all of my adult life, I've listened to Fiona Apple during breakups. She always makes me feel so much better. If I'm depressed, I listen to Radiohead. The feeling of being understood is an extremely powerful thing. Add that to the power of music and you have a nuclear bomb.

***** That depends on your budget. B&W 685S2 are good allround speakers for the price imo (entry level). You'd better save up some money for an amp with DAC on board or external DAC (some models by Marantz, NAD,....) in stead of a soundcard in my opinion.Headphones ... I've had the Nad Viso HP50 which are pretty good, recently updated by Oppo PM3. Off course, you have to judge with your own ears. Each brand has its own sound signature more or less: analytical, slightly warm/coloured, bass heavy,... Take your time before you decide and check what you like the most (it's not always easy to audition everything, but I'd suggest to test some stuff before you buy). You don't have to be a billionaire to get a good audio setup ;)

Listening to the music, and watching the video, I feel like the woman (the voice), is broken by what she's lost. What she's lost was due to others. She feels numb because of everything that's happened to her, and by what she's planning to do, in retaliation to what she's lost. "Take the worst situations, make a worst situation" seems to imply that something bad happened and that she's going to make it worse. The "Feeling numb in this kingdom" part could refer to how she's feeling after her trauma and during her "mission" for revenge. But when you look at her closer, she's not as numb as she says. When she looks at the men she's killing, you can see the sheen of unshed tears in her eyes. And before that, when she's lighting her cigarette, you can see her eyes watering with unshed tears, like she's trying not to cry. I feel like these men did something horrible to her, whether it was rape, or they killed someone close to her. They did something terrible to her and she's getting her revenge. The second guy she kills, he seems to recognize her as if he knows her somehow. After killing him, she is walking away and definitely doesn't look numb. She looks affected by what she's done. The "You better make me better" line I think is aimed at what she's doing, which is enacting her revenge on those that wronged her. When she's done, she goes back to her room and looks at herself in the mirror. She undresses from her red outfit and changes into something more plain, and drinks something (probably alcohol) while looking at herself again. Then she turns the light out and tosses something on the bed, which I think was her keys, and leaves the room before entering the elevator and going down. The key, I believe, symbolizes that she can't and won't come back from this and the elevator going down is her descent into hell after enacting her revenge, a revenge that didn't seem to make her happy in the end. This is just my take on the video and lyrics. After watching the video many times, and listening to the song many more times, I refuse to believe that the woman in red is just some heartless psychopath. Daughter's music and videos always offer layers to the story. It's never anything so shallow or simple.

I wouldn't have come across this fantastic band had it not been for a game that I had shelved for two years, then decided to play the prequel when it came out and shelved that too for a few months. It wasn't until I picked it back up again and was so into this band that I had to look them up! The earlier stuff I still really enjoy, but it is a bit TOO reminiscent of early Bjork (which I absolutely love) but I'm glad Daughter came into her own and I have now added it into my collection of regular listening. I’m so tired of KZbin comments. I’d like to see more comments like discussing the meaning of song or the music video, sharing stories and LESS lame jokes, dates of when someone is listening to this or what brought them here. C’mon. I want something more complex.

i currently read a book about "die Gewalt des Heiligen" which is about how sacred things (gods, saviors) are related to violence. Do you know, why the woman in this video is disappointed (numbed, numbness) from those situations /dates ? What exactly is wrong with the guys ? We can see that they are freezing or bursting out when they see her, as if she is some kind of medusa or gorgon. There are much complex relations that are leading this woman to thos disappointments that are not exactly seen in the video. We can get a glimpse of the character of this woman, as we see her burning the paper, she has received from the jesus-apostels with disgust. She can not believe in them and in saviors in general. She wears her irony as a shield and is detached from the people around her, as if she does not count herself as a human. I really love this song, as i always wanted to be in contact with such a woman, but i have disappointed her exactly like the guys in this video.

Found this song and band and fell in love with them. Played the video game "Life is Strange" and fell in love with that. Found out there was a sequel/ prequel to "Life is Strange" and flipped. Found out Daughter did the score for "Life is Strange: Before the Storm" and flipped a few more times. This song is the one chosen for the trailer for that game and, as an avid fan of Daughter, I HIGHLY recommend checking out the soundtrack for "Life is Strange: Before the Storm." Even if you aren't a gamer, you'll love it. Swear.
