Men have rewrote the bible so many times perverting it's simple lessons and morals until they had become nothing more then a means to oppress others. The sad love story of Lucifer morningstar and God and the damage jealousy could cause has been lost to the ages. Morningstar is an obvious term of endearment, a name which in the oldest scriptures I've read only God uses. They were lovers maybe the first 'gay' relationship put to stone. Go back far enough and you'll notice neither god or the devil kept to the same pronouns, their pronouns altered nearly as much as their appearances did. When the men who made up the clergy rewrote the bible in the 1100s and chose to remove same sex relationships, they inadvertently created transpeople in the bible. Love between a man and woman in the bible was for the sole purpose of birthing children, outside of that same-sex intercourse was commonplace in the bible. It's why the line man(this is actually better translated as adults) shall not lay with child(proper translations mean a lot, boy and girl pre puberty were both the same word) it was intentionally misinterpreted when it was translated. Man made in the image of god, this at the time would mean humans are free to choose their own identity, to define ourselves as we feel best fits us. This decline isn't new it's been going on for over 2 millennia, 😢 so many beautiful stories lost to power hungry clergymen

I was raised Catholic. The day of my Confirmation was the day everything changed for me. I was still a teenager and just realizing I was/am a lesbian. This lady got up on her soapbox and told all of us that if you were homosexual and you acted on your attraction for your gender you were sinning. She didn't stop there though, she told us about a "friend" that kept acting on his attraction and going to Confession to have his sins forgiven. She said he wasn't really sorry because he kept doing and that he was going to hell. I went though with the ceremony because my grandparents were in the room, but after that I never went to Church again. Everyone wants to say that Catholics are more compassionate to the LGBT community than other Christian denominations. Let me tell you I didn't see it. It's not there and this is more of the same.

that's more or less the reason why I left the Catholic faith... but for about a decade after confirmation, I had internalized homophobia and didn't come out of the closet... I don't even remember when exactly I had latent attractions toward men, but I believe that it was in high school. I was actually interested in biker types. I didn't actually come out of the closet until I was 27. The notion of being who I am as being a sin and that of committing a "sin" with the intention to "confess" wasn't going to be forgiven became a catalyst for me to abandon the faith I was raised in... not really believed in, but fear of backlash from relatives and peers and going through the damn motions just because it was expected. My former childhood friend found me online sometime after I came out... both her and her husband were incredibly bigoted and refused to understand... I ultimately cut both of them out of my life because I didn't need that toxicity.

Whoever would discourage someone from seeking reconciliation based on a false soteriology of "but you still aren't good enough to be forgiven" needs to be more concerned with _their own_ need for reconciliation. I was blessed to be welcomed into full communion with the Holy See three years ago, as a woman who is transsexual, and within walking distance of the very NC state legislature where the hated HB2 had been passed just 4 years prior. I feel that lady's soul is probably the most beautiful thing in that place for she is the only thing in that church without hate, and hate ain't pretty. Fyi the scriptures were full of LGBTQ figures and representation until petty selfish men rewrote them again and again each time creating a more blasphemous perversion until it could be used as a means to oppress those of groups in which the new writers didn't belong to. It is not true that the black church is more liberal. They vote that way out of an adherence to tradition and and a sense of self preservation. While most black churches have members of the LGBT community, the membership is fairly socially conservative. All of this in my own personal experience, of course.

In Sydney, Australia, in the 80's, the group went under the name of the Order of Perpetual Indulgence as they had some members, straight, gay and lesbian, who dressed in priest's robes. The hospital which became the leading "AIDS" hospital in Australia, St Vincent's Hospital, Darlinghurst run by the Sisters of Charity (on the edge of Sydney's gay "precinct"), had a fabulous relationship with the Order and welcomed them regularly to "7 South" (the HIV/AIDS unit) to participate in the care, support and entertainment of the patients in the ward. Those nuns, with boots on the ground, didn't seem too offended!

The two I ran into here in TN used an old commune as a place to aid the dying who had nobody in life. A friend of mine introduced me to them one morning, as he was giving them second hand clothes. From that moment on, I looked at them as an order.❤ they indulged in kindness. 😊

I live in NE Ohio and am a non practicing Catholic. I go to church when a family member is receiving a sacrament or for a funeral etc. The last service I attended priest at this church twice during the service denigrated lgbt and trans people. It made me reinforce my decision to leave the church for good.

The moment that turned me against religion was attending church and one Sunday when I was 14 and seeing they voted out a member who was a 19 year old girl for having a baby out of wedlock when she was a rape victim. They waited until the weekend she was giving birth and wasn't attending to do it and I was dumbfucked by the situation because everyone in the room pretended like this was normal. The very next Sunday she attended and everyone acted so nice to her in person and I'm not even sure she was aware that she was voted out. I was sick from the course of events that I refused to ever go again.

I live in Italy full-time now and it’s pretty much an open secret but 90% of ordained priests are gay and most nuns are lesbians and this is how they deal with their homosexually. They’re willing to be celibate and spend all day every day with the same gender because they’re actually just homosexual. Yes there are straight nuns and straight priests but most of them are gay and just prefer to be in the closet and live with their own gender. That’s cool. They do a lot of charity work and every time a boat crashes on our shores here they take them in and take care of them. Right now this country is doing things I can’t even believe. The generosity of these people towards the people that are coming here for asylum is something I’ve never seen in the United States. And the Catholic Church is spearheading most of it. So yes they do have a problem in the United States diocese with pedophilia for sure I need to be dealt with and the victims need to be taken care of but this organization also does do quite a bit of it good. They really do believe in taking care of the poor and that some thing that I agree with.

You'd think some of these church leaders would be familiar with Matthew 23 (especially 23-39). Reading that in context of these events makes things pretty clear how Jesus, whom they claim to worship, would see things.
