OMG...I frickin loved that! Y’all are so talented. No clue how you play an instrument, walk sideways, hit your mark, sing (chant), and march without stepping on your classmates. You rock!

Love those go pro vids that you make Ryan! It gives a good experience of what being a band member is like in the OSU band! I can see myself doing this once I head to college. I’m in marching band for canton McKinley and my band director is allowing me to do a go pro video, I’m bass drum #6. Also I noticed that y’all used remo powerstroke 77? For the first game then I saw that y’all changed it back to coated remo heads? Correct?

Nice, I have a few questions . 1. Is there a age limit to be in the marching band (Preferably Drum Major)? 2. A few years ago, when OSU Percussion marched out, they yelled, Dot dot dot. But no they whisper it. 3. How hard is it to memorize the notes 4. Did you go to London when they marched in Wembley Stadium?
@doglover47415 жыл бұрын
Also, do you have to attend summer sessions in high school to be in the marching band, cause I don’t live close to Ohio.

Also, when your doing the upside down V thing, how do you know when to turn?

1. There is no age limit to be in the marching band, regardless of what spot you are going for. However, there are a few rules, you can only be in the band for a maximum of 5 years. In order to try out for drum major, you must have been in D row in the past. D row is their drum major training squad, which does require a tryout. 2. Sometimes we find better ways to do things. Yelling out counts down the ramp proved to be hurting our timing as a group, so now we go off of sight, rather than sound. 3. Memorization will happen. You literally force yourself to do it. It's easier than it sounds as there are a lot of resources to help you. 4. Only the 5th years in this video were the ones who were in London. 5. You do not have to participate in summer sessions to make the band. However, it is highly encouraged due to the fact that you learn everything you need to know prior to tryouts and you learn how the process will take place. 6. The power V has specific counts and turning spots for each member of the drumline. We practice it A LOT. Sorry no one responded within a reasonable timeframe. Hope this helps. Thanks. Shawn I-2

What kind of slings are those. I am trying to find one of those that you guys have and wear them the exact same way I bought a pearl marching snare drum sling and it was triple function. Are those just the smaller ones y’all have?

@@vadidithy Damn shame they're not keeping these heads -- and slings. These sounds like snares not the rat-tat-tat pop guns of Kevlar. And snare players can pick up their feet higher.
@vadidithy5 жыл бұрын
@@sloopylo I can understand the slings being taken out for halftime. If can help do some marching techniques better but I am a fan of the clear heads. But, Kevlar heads are easier to maintain and are more resilient.
