I was there in the 1970s and some people were advocating for an "updating" of the band uniforms (thought them "too military" as the country was in its "Vietnam hangover"). Good thing it didn't go anywhere. Some things should never change, they are touchstones in alums lives. Hate people that keep wanting to change the football unis ("all black is so dope"). No. The Ohio State University represents timeless tradition to a lot of us.

I dunno. Since I started watching HBCU band performances, these traditional college bands just seem lacking. Take a look at the Jackson State Sonic Boom for one, but all the HBCU bands are tasty. I will say, as far as the Big Ten goes, the USC Trojans band will definitely add something to that conference with their band.

ohio states band is leaps and bounds ahead of most “traditional” college bands as you put it. Maybe you should watch some of their halftime shows and see if any traditional big 10 bands can march the halftime shows OSU does. Also I feel like HBCU bands are a completely different style all together. The goal sound wise is to deliver as much sound as possible to excite the audience, while incorporating dancing to create an entertaining show. Tbdbitl tries to sound like an orchestra on the field while excecuting the drill with extreme precision. If you cant find a way to respect that then you are a hypocrite

@@BringItMAGA that wasnt an attack on HBCU bands im saying that that is how HBCU bands provide entertainment, through loud playing and dancing, so watch your tone. Ohio states band is an entirely different style all together. Your idea of how a band should provide entertainment is not gospel, there are people with different tastes and you should find somewhere within yourself to respect that.

Its like saying ice cream is better than pizza because you just prefer it, and its justified to compare because they are both food, like no they are entiterely different and are entertaining for different reasons.
