Ohio State Marching Band: "Sesame Street" Tribute vs. Penn State Oct. 30, 2021

The Ohio State University Marching Band pays homage to a childhood classic in "Sesame Street." They display moving pictures of Elmo, Cookie Monster, Count von Count and more, even taking one Big Ten foe to the trash.

Loved the show. You need to come over to Penn State and show lazy Greg Drane how to do an imaginative, creative, mesmerizing show. His shows are such snoozers and Blue Banders are disappointed in just how tired and played the shows are. Thanks for a real halftime show!

The Ohio state marching band is the most watched and most famous college marching band in the United States.

Of-course, when many people think of Sesame Street especially today they automatically think of these characters like Elmo, Oscar, The Count, Big Bird, and The Cookie Monster. What many people of today don’t realize is that there is so much more than just these characters. In the old days they had Forgetful Jones The Cowboy, Clementine The Cowgirl, Hoots The Jazz Saxophonist Owl, Sinister Sam The Outlaw, Betty Lou, Prairie Dawn, Guy Smiley, Buster The Horse, Placido Flamingo, Gladys The Cow, Sonny Friendly, Little Chrissy and The Alphabeats, The Yip Yips, Baby Tooth and The Fuzzy Funk, a “Muppet” named Roosevelt Franklin, Little Jerry and The Monotones, Lefty The Salesman, Harvey Kneeslapper, Sherlock Hemlock, Frazzle, The Anything Muppets, Mr. Johnson, Waiter Grover, The Honkers, The Dingers, Benny Rabbit, Monty, Colambo The Sheep Detective, Biff and Sully The Construction Worker Contractors, The Readers of The Open Range Three Cowpokes that Love to Read, and Biff’s Niece Roxy Marie, Ethel Mermaid, The Letters X, U, Y, Z, etc., The Twiddlebugs, etc. The theme song is, of-course, “Can You Tell Me How To Get To Sesame Street.” It’s in New York. If you watched the anniversary nearly 2 years ago you probably remember some of the characters I mentioned they made a reappearance just for the 50th two years ago almost. If you may recall, they lit up The Empire State Building Green, and Yellow for Sesame Street’s 50th Anniversary. It was a cute story that year. Note: Sesame Street’s 50th anniversary was only just a few months before the pandemic started.

The performers behind all those characters are legends, too. Just to name the ones I can think of: Henson, Oz, Jerry Nelson, Caroll Spinney, Richard Hunt, Fran Brill, Kevin Clash, Matt Vogel, Eric Jacobson... I know I'm missing a lot of them. Much respect.

Long before computerised cartoons Ernie and Oscar were so life like and funny. Great show Ohio Marching "Buck Eyes" Band. Jim Henson creator of many puppets in "The Muppet Show" would have liked this preformance 🙂👍

Love You OSU faculty, students, parents and anyone who grew up in Columbus as I did (Air Force bratl)! I now live in Alabama, yet I have many OSU novelty items. I have only returned back once as a grown up with ex-hubby who was raised in Louisiana. And of course now I continue to root for the Buckeyes!!!👌

Came here after watching the Michigan and Michigan State combined halftime show from that day and was pleasantly surprised lol.
