I would put my money on CJ Stroud to Start with McCord coming in after CJ is drafted into the NFL. McCord takes over in 2023 as a RS-Soph. Miller will end up transferring out. 2020- CJ FR (Backup) 2021- CJ SO (Starter) & McCord RS 2022- CJ JR (Starter) & McCord RS-FR (Backup) 2023- McCord RS-SO (Starter)

CJ Starts in 21&22, you redshirt McCord in 21 and he starts in 23 as a RS-Soph. The same path that Haskins took, that way you get to utilize both kids. Plus I would take a kid who's been in the system for a year over a true freshman unless it's appositely clear that McCord is the better QB (CJ looks like a monster too, so I think the experience wins out).

This guy looks both relaxed and effortless, and i suspect the reason that you get the Brady feel is that he is great at taking what the defence gives him. The reason you may not be seeing a lot of long balls on his tape is simply that with his touch, receiver core and a coach that recognizes how to use it, would he ever actually NEED to throw one at HS level?

After watching Ohio State get OWNED by Bama, the only dynasty I see is a MID level SEC school dynasty!! Ohio State would have issues playing a full SEC schedule. OSU has gone backwards since 2015 when they beat Alabama. Day is not and may never be the coach Urban Meyer was. CJ has a way better arm and is better with off platform throws and throw on the run so he is like Jordan Love or Pat Mahomes with those attributes he just has to be more mechanical when he throws like stepping into throws stuff like that and McCord is really good to with ball placement, touch and accuracy

??? He 1-read almost all of those throws. At least 75% of them and stared them down no less, but his arm talent and his WR ability just overcompensated for it most of the time, with his WR out-running most of the DB's or straight up boxing them out on 50-50's Let's not get ahead of ourselves he is a HS QB, albeit a really good one, but he is going to need to learn to develop his reads and not rely mostly on one talented receiver. I'd also really love to see him develop a nice pump-fake to his game. I think that would do wonders for him. But I agree with Sharpe that his pocket awareness is great and is more Brady-esque than many of the other QB comps listed.

He'll likely Redshirt his freshman year just like Stroud will. Stroud will be Fields backup this year but likely won't have to play a ton which will allow him to redshirt. Then he'll start next year when Fields is gone. Stroud will start for two years allowing McCord to redshirt next year and be Stroud's backup in 2022, then take over in 2023 and 2024. They have a great system going for the next 4-5 years.

Great breakdown, it’s easy to see why Kyle was #1 on Ryan Day’s 2021 QB board. As for him vs CJ, I’d say right now McCord is more polished so he has the higher floor while Stroud has the higher ceiling because there’s so much untapped potential.

As an Ohio State fan myself, I would love to see that happen, that unless Clemson derails them like they've done multiple times over the years. Every single time Ohio State has played Clemson in the playoff, the Buckeyes have not been able to win, even before the playoff system started when Ohio State played Clemson in the Orange Bowl and lost that one too. That’s something Cardale did not have. He had great arm strength but his touch on the short to medium throws was not there. That’s why he did not do so great the next year after the Natty. So I agree with you there. This kid has some great touch, but when he needs it he can sling it.

You (and a lot of other experts) keep forgetting about Jack Miller. The guy was a top 50 prospect until he had his junior and senior seasons cut short with injuries. He also made it to elite 11 with an injured back and shoulder. That should speak volumes to his ability that even injured he performs better than about 20 QBs in the country.

If CJ Stroud is as good as advertised, McCord will be at a disadvantage, because CJ will most likely be the backup at OSU this year and get most of the backup reps, in blow out games, which could be a few.

The Ohio State QB room will look like USC where Matt Leinart Matt Cassel are back ups...to Carson Palmer. I don't recall that Cassel even started a game at SC the roster was so stacked. His stat line shows he played in 8-10 games as the back up in blow outs.

You can be guaranteed that, unlike a few years ago and many before that, top rated QBs now a days are not going to sit and wait...and wait....and wait. Every top Program has had QBs transfer out (a couple had at least 1 transfer in), after they lost just 1 QB duel. They want stat lines, and game film of them for NFL teams to watch. They won't necessarily transfer to a team that can contend for Conference, and National Championships either. They will most likely want at least be on an FBS team.....preferably a P5 Program, I believe. They will want to transfer where they are nearly assured of being the starter as soon as they are eligible. Martell kind of shot himself in the foot but, he made his choice and so far he has stuck with Miami. It will be difficult to hang onto two 5* QBs, and there certainly won't be 3, and even a 4* is not going to want to wait very long.

Is #11 a Ranked Wide Receiver? Kyle's highlight tape was filled with more throws to him than to Marvin Harrison Jr. (who was also noticeably open about every play as well). And #11 was straight Mossin' some dudes and breaking tackles left and right. Aaron Rodgers was my comparison in the Cool, Calm, Collected, accurate, pocket awareness, and enough mobility to do something with. I doubt he has the same arm, but everything else seems like a good comparison.

Great analysis. Everyone in these comments are practically gargling McCord’s balls and ignoring the elephant in the room. Looking at his high school highlights and comparing them to his snaps he’s had so far in college, this seems to be a recurring problem. He seemingly struggles to consistently hit his receivers in stride. It’s evident because in many of his highlights, his receivers are slowing down waiting for the ball to arrive or just straight up coming back to an under thrown ball. This is acceptable at the high school level when your team is a team stacked with multiple players heading to Major FBS schools and you’re facing teams that are filled with just regular kids that won’t be playing at the next level. It’s a completely different story against teams like ND, PSU, Wisconsin, and Michigan. Teams that have multiple players who will eventually be playing on Sundays. It would not surprise me at all if McCord balls out against the mediocre teams and struggles heavily against those 4 teams resulting in multiple losses for the 2023 season.
