@taylorgander196614 сағат бұрын
Home field advantage = 7 points, a neutral site game is expected to be 3.5 points different than a game played at home. Oregon won at home by 1, subtract the above 3.5 Vegas uses for Home vs Neutral and you get Oregon underdogs by 2.5. If you're surprised by this, idk what to tell you
@chrislane322814 сағат бұрын
The reason that they aren't favored isn't disrespect. More people and more money say that Ohio State will win. That's all.

Duck fan here, I think Ohio State deserves every bit of praise and hype they are getting. My only gripe is when people talk like Ohio State "should" have won the first game, instead of "could" have won. If you watched the game once, especially with a Buckeye bias, of course the ticky tacky offensive PI call sticks out...along with the Will Howard clock mismanagement. But watch the game again and you'll see playing the whole "woulda shoulda coulda" game doesn't favor the Buckeyes. In OSU's first drive of the game there was a 100% objectively missed interception that wasn't called (it was early in the game so everyone forgot about that, but it was blatant enough for the announcers to talk about it and show replays of it), Ohio State ended up scoring on that drive so that's literally a 7 point swing and potentially a 14-point swing assuming Oregon converts on extremely good field position. Also, on Oregon's 3rd or 4th drive there was a missed blatant defensive holding AND PI call that resulted in Oregon settling for going for 3 instead of 7. Additionally our kicker missed that chip shot field goal which was 1 of his 2 misses that he had the ENTIRE season as a top 20 kicker in the country. "Woulda shoulda coulda" favors that Ohio State loses that game by multiple possessions rather than the theory that a ticky tacky call and self-inflicted clock mismanagement would have led to a 45 yard field goal that people assume the kicker would have hit? Reminder: Not saying this is how I think, just trying to show you the logic and how this shows bias. P.S. def thought this was a Ohio State podcast until I read the comments lol.

Why just cause Refs spotted OSU by 7pts with that INT not being awarded? Or that could have a 14pt swing considering that Oregon should have gotten the ball Oregon TOOK away from OSU? Or because we missed 44yd FG that he has hit 90% of the time? Or the extra point missed? Or the 2 pt run instead of extra point kick? Or Holden spitting when we woulda been 2nd and Goal and got pushed out of TD range, and scored only a FG? Or 4 and 2 on the goal line run instead of kicking a FG? Or.... I think anyone watching that game realistically should have concluded that Oregon should have comfortably beaten Ohio St.

OSU oline won’t be able to hold back the Oregon Dline. The first game Oregon didn’t have their BEST D lineman. They’ll contain the edges and attack Howard down the middle of their line. Don’t get me wrong, OSU is crazy talented all over the field but if Oregon contains their run and makes their pass game inconsistent enough it’s game over. That’s where the battle will be. OSU o line vs Oregon’s d line w Jordan back. Penn state recently ran thru oregons defense but interviews confirmed that the flu had run thru the Oregon defensive players that game. Don’t think that is an accurate data point.

Right? 7 free points on the first drive alone thanks to the refs blatantly ignoring the interception. That game wasn't half as close as it looked. Also if you take out the one big 50+ yard run they had Ohio State was averaging less than 3 ypc on the ground and now they're missing their star center so that's only gonna get worse, not better. Meanwhile Oregon was missing one of our top 3 receivers for most of the game thanks to that spitting incident and Burch, arguably our best defensive player, was out with an injury that day as well. Oregon's healthier, more prepared, and playing in the closest thing to a home game we'll get in the playoffs. We are not losing this one.

You guys need to stop looking at so many numbers, and go back and watch the three touchdowns at Oregon had wide open. It’s complete dumb luck that Ohio State lost by a point. 52-31 is what Oregon should’ve had… And that’s giving Ohio State the extra seven points after the interception that Oregon took on the first drive. Oregon is going to win this Rose Bowl in a decisive fashion manner. My first prediction was 41-31… But now I am going with 42-27
@Archangel308313 сағат бұрын
Seriously ignorant talking about the last few plays and saying Ohio State should’ve won. Ohio States first touchdown shouldn’t have existed, Oregon intercepted the ball on the 20 yard line. Oregon should’ve been up by at least 8 and that’s not factoring in other points ya they left on the board.

Absolute clown takes on a lot of this. They act like this was a race between a Ferrari and a Geo Metro. “In 12 out of 13 games they’ve done this well on defense”, hmmm, they act like they didn’t show up to play a Purdue type of team. Maybe one side’s coaches are better at doing their homework and prepared their guys not to just rely on what everyone says about them? Do they not realize that they played against another team stacked with talent? The other team just happens to have played in the same conference and went undefeated, but it’s an anomaly game? How about go into some detail why it was an “anomaly”. It’s not always the team stacked with the highest rated talent that wins, which I get is what PFF is all about, but which team can play as a cohesive whole and score more points than the other. Fancy that, I guess there are certain things that don’t show up in PFF scores that win games. As much as Computer models can be correct on a lot of things, it doesn’t take into account for the human element which can throw an entire wrench into things.
