I agree with the change in nil and coaching changes in the SEC, being a major part of the "shift" in power. I think there is one thing that is not being spoken to enough. The change to a 12 team playoff is huge, as well. If we had a 4 team playoff this season, the final 4 most likely would have been Oregon, ND, Georgia and Texas. When half the field is from one conference, it is easy to get one team or even both teams in the final game. When they can hide behind the perceived power of the conference, the committee can invite the SEC to the final four rather than a need to earn a right to the final four.

It's so weird because I remember when I was a kid and we would take vacation from Michigan to Florida in winter it would be 55 or 58 degrees and it felt so warm. I remember the first 50 degree day after long winter I'd be in a Tshirt just loving life. I literally have to turn on my heat if the temperature drops below 70 in the house. IMO, Nick Saban got out of college coaching BECAUSE the SEC no longer has a monopoly on the top talent... he saw the handwriting on the wall!!! Quite frankly, I don't believe Saban was all that great a coach, so much as he could hire the best talent money could buy when he was coaching. Proof? What was his coaching record when he was NOT in the SEC? 91-42 and if you take his one year at Toledo out it's 82-40. Certainly not STELLAR! He got out JUST as he would have to "up coach" his player talent and he simply didn't want to be exposed.

13:37 Yes, the SEC has been great, but they have benefitted from recency bias in the polls for years. Under the BCS only the top two teams got in. SEC teams invariably got the benefit of the doubt in the rankings. If an SEC team was 10-1 and a B1G, Big 12, or ACC team was 10-1, the SEC team invariably got the nod to play in the NC. If the BCS had still been in effect in 2014, the NC would've featured Alabama and Oregon. It turned out the best team that year was #4 Ohio State. In 2010 12-0 TCU would've been a very dangerous opponent. In the Rose Bowl they beat #4 Wisconsin to go 13-0. In 2011 they went with SEC winner 12-1 LSU and SEC at-large #2 11-1 Alabama instead of #3 12-1 B12 Conference champ Oklahoma State. They beat #4 Stanford in the Fiesta Bowl to go 13-1. There is no doubt the SEC has been a great conference this century, but it's also true they've had the benefit of the doubt in rankings year after year. In 2024 they had the #2, #3, and #7 teams in the playoff and didn't get sniff of the final. Their best representative was a team that wasn't even in the conference the previous season.

After watching Ohio State becoming unglued after having a flag be brought to the middle of the field. It was a disgrace of epic proportions to get all bent to fighting. Grow up OSU and lose with DIGNITY. Michigan didn’t fight Texas or Oregon when it was done to them.
