Buck stops with the head coach... If Campbell isn't cutting it, then HC needs to step in and start play calling and get it done. Ya don't just point to the OC and say he's not doing his job... at Michigan that doesn't cut it. I think that's what has been the problem since Bo/Carr left, accountability. It seems that the atmosphere at Michigan is one of weakness, and no accountability. That's why Harbaugh left. Couldn't disagree more with you Steve, that's why you're a corporate guy, Sherrone more looking out for "Self" is exactly what we don't need. That's a horrible take on this, if Sherrone more couldn't spot this in spring camp, and couldn't spot it in per-season camp, then he doesn't deserve to be the HC. Wow... bad take Steve, typical corporate biological suppository. Let's all get away from the problem to distance ourselves from the problem... instead of doing our jobs and coaching up the kids and helping them get ready for bigger and better things. **Agree completely with Mark, he tried to say that HC is the problem; yup the time-out then Steve tries to say "Well Harbaugh's time mgmt was bad"... yeah that doesn't make it right wow! Sherrone more needs to go, sorry it's bad. ***The last time Michigan went to get the "Hottest Coach" we got the king of the spread... Rich Rod, look how that turned out. Michigan is the epitome of "OH SHINY" and biting at the first thing that glistens. Such bad athletic department mgmt since Bo left.

Ohio State with a Top 5 win and 2 top 5 losses would make the tourney over the 10-2 SEC teams.
@markclifford91514 күн бұрын
Current discussion of the bracket is pointless. It will sort itself out, and there will always be people who complain about where “their” team is placed using convoluted logic to justify their argument. Don’t lose games and things go your way. Lose games and you put it in someone else’s hands. Losing is on the team, not the process. If Indiana wins or keeps it relatively close they are in at 12-0 or 11-1. If they get blown out, it’s on them, and they’ll drop like a rock. It takes care of itself.

There is a solution to playoff selection butt hurt. Conference realignment so that the power 5 conferences have regional and numeric parity (the Big 10 is actually the Big 18 whereas the Pac12 is now the Pac 2? 😳). All teams that choose not to join a power 5 super conference are lumped into a Second tier playoff algorithm. All power 5 conference champions get automatic bids to the playoff. Likewise the next 3 playoff berths go to power 5 programs that didn’t win their conference but finished ranked #6 - 8. This ranking system is something akin to the BCS system, which takes into account W/L, head to head, SOS, points scored, points allowed, total team offense and total team defense. Finally, the last 4 playoff berths go to the 4 highest ranking 2nd tier (i.e., non power 5) programs based on the same system. That would be fair, which is likely why the NCAA would never adopt it. They wouldn’t configure a system where they couldn’t crowbar in an Alabama or an Ohio State over a lower ratings team. It would go a long way to design the system on the day all the network executives and lawyers go out to lunch together.

Here’s hoping the refs don’t affect this game the way they did OSU @ PSU. Ohio State ought to walk away with a 14-point victory. But then based on talent that ought to happen every week for them, and yet it doesn’t. Why? Ryan Day is a soft, finesse, risk averse coach who routinely gets outcoached by competitors. Let’s be clear. ALL the pressure is on him to win tomorrow, and in being clear let’s be honest in saying he doesn’t handle that kind (the Top 5 matchup kind) of pressure well historically. If the Buckeyes lose tomorrow, it could cost him his job.

Incorrect statement #2 Steve. You said SMU would be a top 4 seed if the season ended today, based on being the best ACC team. In fact, Boise is rated higher and would be the #4 seed because of being the 4th highest ranked conference champion. SMU would be the 12 seed if the season ended today.
@charlesfriebis79545 күн бұрын
Ohio State is the #2 team in the country. If they lose, it is to the #5 team in the country. They lose, they are still in the top 7 or 8. They are all but a lock for the playoffs, at this point (with the SEC killing each other). win or lose. Your first take is completely off base, but go on.

In my opinion, they are just trying to be way too cute with it. Simple is better in this scenario. I would: -Get rid of the CCG, and allow shared conf championships or do a paper tiebreaker. -Get rid of one non conf game. -All conf go to 9 conf games. -Go to either, a 32 or 16 team playoff. -No byes. -No auto qualifiers. -No AP poll. -No ranking until bracket release. -Open source algorithm(allows us to see how it's ranking teams) to produce rankings for consistency. (Not BCS) -All games on campus until championship game. -National title is still neutral site.

Shared opponent Nebraska would give me concern were I a Buckeye fan. Indiana beat Nebraska by 49. OSU beat them by 4. Perhaps there’s a lot going on there, but as you say, Indiana is a good team. I think the game will come down to the Ohio State front 7 getting pressure against Indiana’s downfield passing game to force them to run into the Buckeye line. If they can do that I don’t see Ohio State, despite their beaten up O-line failing to score against Indiana. If the Buckeyes get behind 10, however…..that could be a problem.

This was Galloways thinking, If IU is going to lose anyways, and if ESPN metrics still say with a loss that IU gets in 96% of the time, then why risk your heisman QB. SO many things are wrong with it, it wasn't well thought out. Home field if IU wins, and a possible homefield in a close loss is the first thing. We have 2 more weeks......anything can happen to the the SEC teams in those 2 weeks that still could put IU with a Home game in the play offs. Second, we are undefeated... show some pride.
@calvinhobbes61185 күн бұрын
Joey Galloway is an Ohio St alum and he knows Ohio St has no chance of winning the Big10 title if they lose to IU this weekend. He wants all those Seniors who came back for a conference championship to win one. Its obvious bias but smartly backed by a statistical argument.
