OHIO Trains running the Night Shift in Swanton, Wauseon, Deshler and Dunkirk.

Holy Cow what a night!!! Liam and I had seen 16 trains in about 4 hours that's including travel from Wauseon to Deshler and then Deshler to Dunkirk.
The goal for us was to see some Amtrak action and that is exactly what we got.
But first when we arrived at Swanton, Ohio we had an East Bound Manifest train being led by Union Pacific Locomotive 3082 a SD70ACe T4 lashed up with a NS Locomotive 9857 a Dash 9-44CW. This train was moving very fast close to 60mph.
Next up was Amtrak's Capitol Limited 30 with leading locomotive 3 a GE GENESIS Series I P42DC. This is what we were looking for and it was very exciting for us. This train was moving at 77 MPH. Its next stop was the Toledo Ohio Amtrak station.
After the Capitol Limited An empty coal train was heading into the Swanton yard with BNSF leader locomotive 9054 a SD70ACe and lashed up with BNSF
locomotive 9604 a EMD SD70MAC dressed in Grinstein Green Executive paint scheme. This was a complete surprise for us and the first time we have seen one of these units in person.
Coming in shortly afterwards was a West Bound Intermodal train heading to its destination in Chicago. Powering this train was a pair of Rebuilt GE AC44C6M originally built in 1996 for Norfolk Southern. This train was waiting for the local to clear the track so they could proceed West.
Nearly 10 minutes after the West Bound Intermodal train passed by another West Bound intermodal arrived in Swanton, Ohio nearly at speed. Leading this train was a Union Pacific C45AH unit number 2721. This train met up with an East Bound Tanker train being led by a pair of Candian National GE ET44AC locomotives. We were worried that the tanker train would arrive first blocking our view of the West Bound Intermodal however we got lucky. These trains cleared Swanton nearly at the same time as they planned it perfectly.
Soon after an East Bound Intermodal with some semi-trailers mixed in blasted through with NS Locomotive 4269 leading the way. 4269 is a DC to AC converted AC44C6M. There were 3 more NS locomotives trailing however with my camera being set to 24FPS and low light I cannot make out what these locomotives are.
A BNSF GE ES44AC locomotive 6062 was pulling hard this West Bound Grain train. Trailing was BNSF Locomotive 6063 a sister unit to the leader.
This train was a lot of fun to watch as it had a wonderful consist of grain hoppers.
Then some bone head ran on foot across the tracks as the gates were down and Norfolk Southern Heritage unit 8025 the Monongahela was blasting East at Speed 60mph. The Monongahela heritage unit is a GE ES44AC built in 2010 and was repainted to its current heritage scheme in 2014. This is the first time we have seen this heritage unit which made us very happy.
The Monongahela Railway was a coal-hauling short line railroad in Pennsylvania and West Virginia in the United States. It was jointly controlled originally by the Pennsylvania Railroad, New York Central subsidiary Pittsburgh and Lake Erie Railroad, and the Baltimore and Ohio Railroad, with NYC and PRR later succeeded by Penn Central. The company operated its own line until it was merged into Conrail on May 1, 1993.
We then decided to pack up and head West to Wauseon, Ohio for better lighting. This is the first time we had been to Wauseon at night and just assumed the lighting was better and we were correct.
First up was West Bound Intermodal train being led by Norfolk Southern's locomotive 9409 a GE C44-9W in trail was a SD70ACe and another GE C44-9W.
Then the train we wanted to really see was approaching from the West heading East. Amtrak's Lake Shore Limited moving at 78 Mph being led by Amtrak's50th anniversary unit 108 a GE P42DC. This thing was very cool and a great catch for us. The horn was sweet, and you could hear it for miles after they passed through Wauseon.
We stuck around for one more and a West Bound Intermodal Semi-trailer mix train was at speed. Being Led by NS locomotive 8079 a GE ES44AC built in 2011. Trailing was NS unit 4066.
We decided to travel to Deshler on our way closer to home.
