Ohio Zoo Gorilla attacks baby!!!

This Is Harambe, the Silverback Gorilla shot dead Saturday at the Ohio Zoo to protect the life of a 4 year old who fell into his enclosure. The video was shot on November 2014 at the Gladys Porter Zoo in Brownsville TX, shortly before he was transferred to the Ohio Zoo. In the video he is attacking a baby Western Gorilla and his mother, while the rest of the group try to stop him.

He's not attacking the baby. He's flirting with his mate who happens to be carrying the baby. Silverbacks often pick little fights like this with their females hoping they'll chase him. The troop normally joins in with the loud screams. Shabani in Japan has mastered this.

But he plays! :D It might look rude, but the big boss sometimes loves to harass his wives to chase him. It can be seen that the guy bent his back, took a playful pose (turns sideways and spreads his arms wide) and bites his lip. They always bite the bottom game when they want to play pranks and make a mess. Then the girls should chase him and squeeze him into a corner until he gets tired of running away and pinching. More often than not, big daddy will pester a woman with a child, because this is his beloved wife. Everyone screams and runs, but that's okay. Because of this, gorillas were once considered dangerous psychos, until zoologists proved the opposite, they are just playful, but to people it may seem like aggression. A father will NEVER harm his child, fathers are nannies for their children and take care of orphans if something happens to their mother. Yes, it looks rough and he pushes, but it doesn't do any real harm, rather it gets on the nerves of his ladies ХD If the female afterwards looks really offended, the silverback will come up and gently touch her wife, checking if she is hurt. Young leaders sometimes sin with such behavior, the blood is young and raging, you want to play.

He is not trying to kill the child, he is provoking his mother. In nature (more often in zoos, because the responsibilities as a protector leader are less and boring) young silverback like to tease their wives (their beloved wife, as a rule, has a child) so that the whole family starts running after him. It looks rude, but he doesn't really hurt them. Even the most gentle and caring silverback have a playful, during which he will clap, push and pinch, and then run away. Everyone runs and shouts.

If a silverback manages to pick up a group of females from another male, then this is in the order of things. He will kill the young to make his own offspring. There are exceptions, but they are rare. I have been observing gorilla's life for a long time and I can note that there is tension in this group. This happens when a new silverback comes to the group. And this silverback attacks only the female with the cub. If the baby is not his, then this may indeed be a deliberate act of aggression. Silverbacks are much more careful with their young.

But it's impossible to say exactly what is happening in this family, this is the first video that I see with them and it is impossible to understand their general dynamics on ordinary days. Harambi, in principle, adopts the typical flirtation poses that they often use in games. If you look, for example, at the Shabani family... or Haoko, as an example, it may seem that there is domestic violence happening there. Haoko constantly "hunts" for his wife, who gives birth to children from him, he loves to playfully bite her or push her, even when there is a child on her back, but he is gentle with her the rest of the time and incredibly loves his children. God, he rocks his children in his arms. Shabani generally drives his family as crazy when he is in a playful mood, but these are just active games, and his husband and father are incredible. I don't know why Harambi was transferred to another zoo and a different family, there may have been conflicts, but gorilla games can really look threatening and loud, although they are having fun. Well, it's either fun only for dad XD When they are young, they especially love to haunt their families. If this is his child on the video, then Harambi should not have reasons to attack him and his mother, this is unacceptable

In fact, Harambe would've probably been a better parent that whatever ones let their kid fall into the enclosure. Also, I'm not sure exactly what behavior this is, but this is not attacking. He would've been making more noise, potentially been banging his chest, and more than likely would've continued the pursuit if he was actually attacking the baby. Do your damn research before trying to paint a bad image on these animals; humans are no fucking better. edit: the way he was running was in no way aggressive either, he was jogging after them slowly instead of trying to be bigger and stronger and catch up and harm them. Really, you don't have to be an animal expert to see this.

Okay idk if this a sick joke or not, but that's not Harambe, now Harambe was born at the Gladys Porter Zoo in Brownsville, Texas, on May 27, 1999, and he was transferred out in September of 2014, now how could you have footage of him from that specific Zoo 2 months after he was transferred, also these are clearly mountain gorillas, male mountain gorillas are known to try and delete any babies that are not theirs so they can mate with the mother when she's fertile, male Silverbacks however are the complete opposite, they are extremely protective of any babies that are theirs or not theirs. So no this is not Harambe.
