I hope the pucks work ok for you. The only thing I would worry, is those screws may not have enough shear strength if you ever need to slide the tanks on the pucks vs on rollers. Hopefully though, that will not be an issue and it will just work great. :)

The wiring and electrical around all this water and flooding makes my spine shiver. You got little precious princess around now. Might be time as part of the new tank upgrades to really think about electrical installations too.
@ohio-fish-rescue3 күн бұрын
It's all off the ground .... there really isn't that much electrical. Eliminated a bunch. Really only low powered led lights and fx filters. All are gfci protected at the wall and arc fault protected at the breakers. Really not much of a concern

Will you be foaming the underneath of the tanks just thinking it will defiantly make a difference to temperature consistency.
@Chronicallywitty3 күн бұрын
But water and foam? I’m sure that water will be on the floor at some point. Maybe inset into the bottom? But still- mold and decay is all I think of.

Should have hit up the Cleveland Monsters Hockey Team for used pucks. SFMF!
@FinnishLapphund3 күн бұрын
I know hockey pucks are made to withstand the forces they're subjected to, but for a project like this, where you want them to function for a long time, and they'll be difficult to replace once the tank is in use, I wouldn't want to use pucks that have already been through x amount of use.

What happens when the puck compresses but the screw doesn't when the weight is put on it? Just a thought.
@ohio-fish-rescue3 күн бұрын
They are solid core, it shouldn't happen. But we counter sunk the screws just in case. Will find out. That's why we tested the lightest object. hindsight it's only 400 lbs per puck. They test at 80,000 lbs compressive strength before failure
@2tellthetruth-is2um3 күн бұрын
@ohio-fish-rescue My thing was that they would compress and the whole thing would be resting on they screws eventually. But like you said wait and see everything we do in life is a test.

Have you experience with pucks? They are tough

Any plans to fill the spaces on the bottom of the tanks/sump with some styrofoam insulation?
@ohio-fish-rescue3 күн бұрын
No i don't feel a need for it. If it was sitting on the ground sure but the rooms hot air will be able to flow under the tanks to keep any moisture away
@richardmoran12853 күн бұрын
Be careful with the pucks, because if the deform under the pressure, all that weight will be on the screws themselves. Wich could strip the threads and bend them. Just a thought
@fivestar22273 күн бұрын
21 pucks could support a 180,000gal sump this here is a 2000gal. You could stack 90 of these and the pucks would be fine.

Just out of curiosity Josh how much weight can those screws hold not trying to be rude just a true general question happy new year
@ohio-fish-rescueКүн бұрын
Screws should be holding 0 weight. The weight is on the pucks which can hold 80k lbs each The screws just fasten the pucks to the frame

The hockey pucks arnt a good idea unless they are seriously counter sunk . If the hardware is not counter sunk enough you'll be using just the hardware as feet .

Its gonna sit on the screw not the hockey puck in no time
@ohio-fish-rescue2 күн бұрын
You have no faith. Or you think were dumb. But we made sure they were solid puks. 18,000 pound crush force. Each puck will be holding up about 750 lbs so were way over built for the job, plus we counter sunk the screw heads 1/4 inch , :) hope that helps
