In this ASMR shave, I am comparing the Astra superior platinum made in India and Russia to see if there is a difference since Gillette, or better known as Parker and Gamble moved out of Russia. I can totally hear a difference in the shave, and I can say that the India blade is definitely sharper than the holy Grail Astra superior platinum that used to be made in Russia. I used two Henson shaving razors, the AL 13+ plus which is a medium aggressive razor. If you don't get the correct angle with this razor, it does not cut which in my mind makes a great razor to compare, two different razor blades.

I didn’t try them head to head but I didn’t notice much of a difference. But I think you are correct the indias are slightly more aggressive.

First shave with the Personna blades. Used in the Leaf and Rockwell on plate 3. A super shave on both the head and face. Thanked for another winning suggestion.

I only have the India blades but love them. Not sure if I’ll ever find the Russian ones now. I did find the Russian Gillette Platinums on Amazon and I bought 300. I like that blade.

@@OhioShaves I feel they are a tad sharper than the astra's but in addition they are much more smoother and friendly. I'm yet to cut myself with one while every so often I cut myself with an astra. The price is just right too. I also like having a big brand name like bic or Gillette because you know there are good systems of quality control and most likely it's the same sheet of metal that makes their cartridge razors.

I just stocked up on 400 MIR Astra Platinums. Thank you Rex Supply for saving my bacon on this. No doubt in my mind Gillette built or repurposed a new machine for India. When Personna moved the Personna Red production from Isreal to Germany, I did a head-to-head comparison; not only did they shave the same, but the blades were stamped with the same markings. You could not tell the difference between the physical or shaving properties. Many people online have pointed out physical differences between the Astra MIR and those MII. Maybe one day, I will do a head-to-head, but as of today, I am sticking with what I know and like! I have enough blades to last me a lifetime!

I'm Just finishing a pack of Indian Astra blades I got in a sample pack. Even in my mild Edwin Jagger razor with good oil and soap I'm still prone to nicks with these blades. My favourites to date are Feather and Bic blades. Both excellent IMO.

I grabbed some astras to try recently when i bought a bunch of different brands to try out . Along with the astras i bought both yellow and green gillete 7 o clocks, PAAs platinum strangelets, rk stainless, bolzanos, wizamet super iridiums, and feathers. Out of all those blades so far the astras have been the one that i liked the least. They had the most tugging/pulling or "dull feeling" blade out of all of them. Im prefering the more expensive premium brands which are considered more aggressive(feather, bolzano, super iridiums) over the more mild cheaper brands (platinum strangelets, rk stainless, dorco, astra, etc.) but to be conpletely honest ive only tried 1 brand that i threw away and didnt even finish using and that was the green derby blades, they were paper thin and i felt like they nicked ppl like crazy so i tossed them and never again. Not crazy about sharks either but not as bad as derby.

I only have the Russian blades. I don't use them much anymore since i got the PERSONNA COMFORT Coat All American Blades. I use Bic Chrome Platinum Stainless more than the Astra. They are Feather sharp but are smoother than the Feather. They last 4 solid shaves to. Do a show with the second shave on a Bic and a Feather. Big difference. To me anyway.

Second shave is sharper than the first with the Bic. Second shave with a Feather is duller. In published tests this is true.
@OhioShaves

I get a better shave out of the feather on the second shave as well. I could do that blade comparison, though be a good matchup.

Changing to al13 ++ give me huge difference to my skin. Mild gave a lot of feedback from alum, while the medium give almost unnoticeable feedback. Might be I was using pre shave cream with medium

I tried both thanks to you. It's hard to tell from two separate shaves,It seems close but I do know that none that I've tried are nice and consistent like personna cc. I think nics happen more often from a poorer quality blade and could be mistaken for more aggressive bc it doesn't hold or start with a perfect shape. They must not use their own product because if they did I'm sure they would have had a problem with the Russians glue on the blade. I mean come on we have enough to clean with out having to clean every new blade before use..

Different machinery, different results. It's kind of a shame because the Astra SP's were highly liked in the wet shaving community that were made in Russia.
