Some problems are best solved by "the people", while others are best solved by "the government". Neither can lay exclusive claim to being the "strength and backbone" of anything. For example, there are 48,482 miles of interstate highway in the USA. That comes to 255,984,960 feet of interstate. There are also (per census) 346,022,816 people living in the USA. When you do the math, each US citizen "owns" about nine inches of interstate highway. You didn't build your nine inches of interstate, and couldn't if you tried. But all of us together did, using this thing you seem to disdain, that we call "the government". "The government" is (or at least ought to be) all of us doing things together that we cannot efficiently do as individuals. In this video we see an organized group of motivated individuals (not "the people" which is just an undefined blob of everybody) with the appropriate skills and tools, building a road. Many kudos to them, they are magnificent. Neither "the people" nor "the government" built this road, but my primary point is that "the government" is not the useless or malevolent thing that you seem to think it is. Many folks in the mountains had no flood insurance, and are totally wiped out. They are going to get a lot of help from individual contributions ("the people") and from government agencies (which is just "the people", but organized per the will of voters).

It’s great to see everyone pulling together and helping their neighbours. It’s what we believe when we hear the words from Jesus! The disciples ask Who is my brother? When did we feed , clothes or help you ? Jesus replied : When you did it to the least of these. ,! Feel so sad for the folk affected! Glad they are getting help. It’s what MAGA will call communism, or socialism. We call it being neighbourly. Time for folk to see past the nonsense rhetoric of the far right lunatics and see everyone just as people , and all need the same things , and all can help each other. That’s not socialism! That’s called human decency. Your son has shown th first sign by seeing the world is messed up. NOW , he has the opportunity to help or make it worse. His choice. At 19 , let’s hope he chooses correctly!
@destinycoach52 ай бұрын
I'll give you an answer to your son's question. The world is so messed up because we are in the BIBLICAL TRIBULATION TIME!! WE ARE IN THE BOOK OF REVELATION. This is the time of the beast system when good is bad and evil is good. This is why you see the insane ruling society even tho 99% of us think they are crazy. The world is being terraformed to for Satan who will come to rule the world thru his antichrist man. There will be one ruler over the upside-down clown world where men are girls and cats. We just witnessed some of Matt 24 and Revelation 6 seals come to pass. Things will get must worse, more evil and wicked as the One WORLD GLOBAL government, one world currency and one world religion take hold [ they have all already begun]. the greedy actions of evil men and wicked mega corporations are taking full control. they will make society go cashless and promote depopulation [just like gates and his foundation already did]. In 2021 we saw mass depop go into effect when billions took the \/ @ X and soon thereafter millions were no longer alive. C0v!d was a lie to provoke fear so people would take the j@b (which will make people controllable thru 5 cell [g] towers). Rev 18 talks about being deceived by their sorcery. Sorcery is Pharma. it already happened. When the anti christ gets into power society will be cashless and he will demand that people take a mark of loyalty to, and worship of, him, and this will be the only way to buy n sell. no mark = no buying. [someone at the local shelter asks you .... ."are your kids staving?" 'no problem. You can get food here. first you must take this chip'] Rev 16 and 18 shows us that even in devastation people will still refuse to repent and turn to God. they shake their fists at him. Dont be like them. Turn and be saved. Repent for your sin. Acknowledge that Jesus came to earth as a man, died on the cross, was buried in the ground and resurrected 3 days later, was seen on earth with his followers for 40 days then ascended to the throne room where he sits at the right hand of God. [1 Cor 15.] Ask Jesus to come into your heart to make you born again by the spirit [john 3] Ask Jesus to be lord of your life. This is the only way to God and heaven and eternal life. dont waste another minute - do it now for we are not promised tomorrow.

FEMA is who administers the programs for people to get funds for immediate needs & for repairing some of the damages to their homes & such. Go read what they do. Also, all human beings in post- catastrophe situations do things like this. No humans who are physically & mentally able & who live in an area that was damaged in a catastrophic event just "sit around" waiting for help if there's anything they can do that'll help themselves & their neighbors & community. 🤷♀️ It's weird that you think anyone anywhere waits for help if they have any other options. 🤦♀️

Absolutely amazing! The one thing I wholeheartedly believe in is getting help from those with experience, no red tape, no bs, just get it done. In emergency planning, no education will teach you to respond to every situation. Emergency planning at every agency should listen to every single individual "boots to the ground" that can bring something to the table. From electricians, to construction workers, to road and mining companies, to logistics planning and management to distribution by air, land or sea, to search and rescue, recovery efforts, the list goes on. The point is to emergency planners, don't just think you know everything and can plan for everything, let the community and those that want to help - help with planning - come together as humans and be open minded if someone has a suggestion.

Amazing! Isn't it wonderful what can be done when the claim that something cannot be done is unheard or ignored.

The heart that won America still beating in its Appalachian home. Amongst so much devastation faced by the sheer courage of America's home talking folk . My prayerful spirit is with you. Children of the early American Patriots a few generations down the line proving thier mettle before all the world to see.

I work(ed) in Chimney Rock going on 11 years. This coming Tuesday will be my first time being there since Helene. That will be a difficult day.

This was one of the hardest-hit areas of WNC. We received 30"+ rain in three days. Chimney Rock, Bat Cave, Gerton, and Lake Lure are basically in a canyon, so the water hit that valley intensely.

You won't be alone. After I delivered a carload of donations for a mom of two toddlers in Rutherfordton, I drove to Lake Lure and the eastern edge of Chimney Rock to see what Helene did for myself. Even after three weeks, Lake Lure is still a mess. The rebuild will be overwhelming to say the least.

This is absolutely amazing! Families can get back home and start rebuidling. I was one of those stuck at the top of a mountain but nothing compares to what these families are going through. I think about them every minute. Good job West Virginia Boys! There is a special place in heaven for people like you.
