Evan call develope a whole own new waltz for this. Madhouse put a lot effort to this show and in my opinion, it reached us :D Sein get cakezoned xD

It's not Madhouse. It's the director, Keiichirou Saitou. He pushed for something similar in his previous directing work, Bocchi The Rock. Instead of animating band performance randomly like most anime did, he actually brings in actual band to perform the songs on stage, capture the motion and the animation team rotoscoped that performance. Not related but title drop in Frieren happens at the end of episode 8, "Sousou no Frieren". Which is the same as Bocchi The Rock.

Stark is a super-warrior, he is at the peak of physical abilities. It is not unusual for such a man to also be an excellent dancer. When Stark makes an authoritative move in the dance, it surprises and impresses Fern, and allows her to relax in the arms of her cavalier. Outstanding story telling!

I actually like that you pointed out Stark might be a natural, I thought it was interesting they show the montage of their etiquette training and Stark never struggles at the dance segment, where as they specifically show Fern falling over. Maybe Stark’s warrior training helped with footwork? Maybe Fern flying around instead of making use of her feet hinders her footwork? Just thought it was an interesting detail.

I've been looking forward to you watching that dance scene since you posted your ep.14 reaction. I thought you would love it, and you did not disappoint. Once again I am blown away by how pure of heart you are. I think I also said this before on ep.13, but I'm also impressed with your emotional intelligence; you pick up on subtle things other reactors mostly seem to miss and your insights are consistently great. For example: when you mentioned Frieren+Sein as a possible ship during the soiree, I'm pretty sure you were detecting the same very small vibes that I've been convinced I can see in their interactions that night. Frieren is clueless, of course, and fresh off the realization that Himmel was actually in love with her, but I strongly believe that if you watch Sein carefully in that scene, you can see wheels turning in his head: "What if Frieren *IS* the right kind of older woman?" It's just for a second, and when she declares her intentions toward cake-kun he immediately lets the idea go, but I think if you could hear his thoughts at that moment he'd be saying, "Oh. Right. That was silly." And he would sound *WISTFUL.* If other reactors are getting any of those vibes, they're not talking about them. But you were right there with Sein, being like "maaaybe..." until the cake dashed your hopes. Anyway, enough about how great you are. I probably came off as weird and/or made you uncomfortable; I apologize if that's the case but I stand by my statements. I wanted to clarify something about Sein's "older woman" thing. The Japanese term he's using for that is "onee-san," which very literally just means "older sister," but culturally is often used for any woman a little bit older than the speaker. That's the most common way you'd hear the term, and that's how Hero Party 2.0 is interpreting Sein's proclivity. BUT - when he says "an older woman like that is no older woman at all," that's because "onee-san" also refers to a specific TYPE of older woman - the blonde woman in the sleeping village is a good example as far as physical appearance, but the show has a couple of other significant onee-san characters. I think Flamme gives strong onee-san energy a lot of the time, and Methode (who you'll meet later and that's all I'll say because NO SPOILERS) is a total onee-san. In terms of other anime I've watched recently, um... in Bocchi the Rock, Seika Ijichi (Nijika's *literal* onee-san) is NOT an onee-san type character (too much *tsun*), but PA-San could be considered one. Anyway, because Sein is interested in a waifu and nobody else we've met really has been, I think he's also the only one who understands his niche alternate usage of "onee-san."

Stark's village could be a branch family off the main line, or a noble renouncing their nobility to be with a commoner, or descendants of a mistress/concubine. The similarities are too much to ignore. Maybe they'll do a "lost prince" storyline for Stark in the future.

To be fair they actually do hint that Stark is a natural at least compared to Fern. Stark is never shown to fall in his dance lessons (most likely due to being a warrior so footwork is natural) but they show Fern struggling by falling over (since mages basically just fly).

If anything Fern is much more impressive. She's into training later and she's a mage. Unlike Stark who is a warrior, physical fitness are not required to be a mage. Yet she dance beautifully.

Frieren is definitely older, but the main component is the maternal/mommy aspect and she definitely doesn't have that.

Well yeah, she's mentally/neurologically like 12-13 yo. And on top of that, she's emotionally stunted, has been turned into a weapon against deamons, spend nearly 900 years in a depression after her master died, and now is dealing with grief while falling in love with the person whom she is grieving. She's super stunted and has had very little life experiences despite living for so many years(at least 2,000+ years but maybe 12,000+ years). So of course Sein would look at her and go "this is a broken child with superpowers and a lot of knowledge. I just wanted a milf/gilf". I personally try to ignore her being obviously underaged(if compared to a human), because it just makes the Himmel love story a bit messed up.

@@Cole_McGill plenty of mentally 12 year olds out there in 18+ bodies my guy. I’d say Frieren is more like neurodivergent young adult. I’ll agree with your take she basically became the embodiment of a weapon against demonkind but that was a choice she made. I got a childhood friend who did 10 years in the army and seen some shit. And while the trauma of the events have left the mental scars he knew what he was getting into and it allowed him to accept it. I feel like Frieren is like that, someone with a singular goal and indomitable will but someone who Is also emotionally stunted and neurodivergent gatcha addict. And there’s nothing wrong with any of it because she’s clearly living her best life especially now she’s learning to appreciate things on a more human time scale.

@@manofcultura I am saying she's 12-13 becausr she is physically underaged. Shes definitely pre-pubescent in the Flamme flashback and I think she's just barely pubescent in current time. So she's neurologically a child and physically a child, but with more years at each "age". I'm just saying that young elves are kind of like Apes or Parrots(which have toddler level intelligence for around 30 years), but are slowly developing during that time(a stretched out human lifespan). I'm about to overlook this though, I can write it off as "its a fantasy setting" and "its medieval times". Also wasn't Himmel only like 16-17(still a bit more developed but not an adult). And sidenote about the Frieren "choosing" to become a weapon. She was a child making that choice, after becoming an orphan. Flamme Batman'd her into becoming Robin. I think that she still would have made that same choice at any point down the road, but it should be noted that Flamme basically picked up Frieren and said "mine now". Its all fine, its just that if you think about it too much, it starts to look weird(at least to our society).
