I remember the first time I heard the Bad Brains...blew my mind. No band ever wanted to play after these guys, they had so much raw energy, stage presence and musical skill. Insane how rad these guys were. Maybe the best punk band ever.

Bad Brains has been one of my favorite bands for 3 decades now. If you want to go back a little further, check out a band called death, 3 black brothers from Detroit making punk before there was a name for it. They set the ground work for punk / hardcore as a whole but didn't get the recognition they deserved until years latter.

Thanks for doing my request! Awesome reaction! I’m 49 and use to skateboard back in the late 80’s. Bad Brains was a group I discovered through skateboarding. The I Against I album blew my mind when I first heard it back then when a friend played the cassette in the car!

I love the reaction and love that you really liked them. While not my least favorite BB songs, it is certainly not my favorite. I think Bad Brains are one of, if not the best band ever. Not just based on their incredible musical merit, but because of what they did at the time they did it. Love this!

I had the good fortune of seeing the Bad Brains live in 1985 and to this day they are the BEST band I have seen live. This song is kind of more sedate than they classic music. FYI - the Bad Brains pretty much created hardcore punk rock and were a VAST influence on punk. Yes their set was half punk and half reggae - with no break between songs - from 300 beats a min to 30. BAD BRAINS is one of my favorite all time bands. I've listened to them for 30 years. Seeing a young woman react to them is going to be interesting. Quickness by BAD BRAINS may be a little more "tame" and I think you'd get into that a bit more.

lead singer of rage the machine Zack de la Rocha has said that bad brains was the band that influnced him the most. Whats really mind blowing though is there are videos of bad brains playing this same music IN 1978. These guys literally invented hardcore punk genre and where decades ahead of their time. I recomend "banned in DC" and "pay to cum" by Bad Brains. In the video people in the audience are wearing bell bottoms and big collar tabs with the fro.

Cool stuff! Look, there are lots of genres of music, and each has produced great music. Then there are bands that define genres, the first and best. But there are those true greats that come out of nowhere and can not be emulated, bands that are a genre all their own. One of those is Bad Brains. Punk? Maybe. Hardcore? Yeah, but they’re way more and nobody else is in the conversation. And they’re just better. I think one one the best albums ever made. I saw them live supporting this album when I was 16. Blew my little mind. I thought I might not make it out alive and I was fine with that.
