As we get closer and closer to the end of the regular season, I want to continue making videos where we look back at some predictions I made before the season began. I had the devils winning presidents. I had Ottawa finishing second in division and Buffalo finishing third. I knew those wouldn’t age well but I didn’t think it would age this bad. I also had Boston missing playoffs 😭.

My 2 bold predictions were Bedard was gonna take atleast 1 season to get used to the NHL speed and physicality. Thought his ceiling this year was 40-50. Hes on a PPG pace and has really impressed me on his maturity and adapting quick to the nhl style. Arizona was gonna make the playoffs this year as I had the Predators and Jets falling off due to age and offseason moves. Boy was i wrong.

i still don’t understand why not just you but so many people had boston missing the playoffs lol everyone just seemed to completely forget they have the best goaltending duo and their entire defensive core wasn’t going anywhere. It didn’t make any sense i am no boston fan but for so many to say they weren’t going to make the playoffs was just hilariously bad. I also predicted that michkov when he ends up coming over is going to be incredible can’t wait to watch him

I predicted Boston and Tampa Bay missing and Buffalo and Ottawa making it in and Shesterkin for Vezina. Oof. I did pick Vancouver to make the playoffs and Bedard for Calder though. My prediction for MacKinnon for Hart also looks ok.

A prediction I did was Vancouver makes the playoffs as atleast a wildcard and my brother disagreed but I guess I got the playoffs right, not at all the position of where they will make it from

Even as a Bruins fan, most analysts had us as a bubble team, but still making the playoffs. You truly went off the rails with your prediction there. I think 95-100pts was expected of the Bs this season. As you said, I did NOT expect us leading the League ATM again; albeit not as off the charts.

I was similar to you for the Atlantic I had Buffalo 2nd in the division, Boston in WC spot 2, and Florida missing the playoffs. In hindsight I definitely overthought it and I'm sure subconsciously I was biased and wanted to see some change in the Atlantic division.

As a Colorado Avalanche fan, I went into this season expecting it to be a 3 way race between Makar, MacKinnon and Rantanen for the Captain’s C, but with Landeskog expected to return in time for the playoffs now (hopefully), I don’t think that’ll be the same concern, at least, as long as Landy can keep being the heart of the team

6:00 - My friend, I'm suprised. The Calder Trophy had already written Connor Berard's name on it before season started. Even with missed-out games due to injury, Bedard's tallent is once-in-a-generation and would produce fine rookie numbers non-stop. And it was a great draft class he came from as well. But yeah, that was a dropp the ball one !!!!

I've had the best out of my buddies group. I had Devils missing the playoffs Vasilevskiy having a sub .905 Sv% coming off of an injury Over 5 mid season coach firings Artemi Panarin with 40+ goals (should hit that) Brock Faber Calder Finalist (should hit that). The one I was way off was the Coyotes making a WC and getting their arena, in that order

I predicted Austin Matthews would have another down year and Ovi would win another rocket Richard trophy. By the 10 game mark I knew i had screwed up. On the plus side, I predicted Kucherov would have a big year and lead Tampa on one more run. I guess we’ll see where that one goes.

One of my predictions was the canucks, Flames And Missing Playoff And Vegas, Los Angeles And Edmonton In Aswell As The 4th seed would’ve been the anaheim ducks wow im really at presicting eh

My boldest predictions were 1. Chicago wasn’t going to be a bottom 5 team ❌ 2. Ottawa wasn’t going to take the leap into the playoffs ✅ 3. Buffalo was going to take the leap into the playoffs ❌ 4. My favorite one so far, Kucherov would win the art Ross 🔥

I had Philly finishing last in metro. Buffalo making the playoffs for the first time in years (I think Jeff Skinner is the curse). I also Predicted that Toronto would finish 1st in the Atlantic.

I was with you on Boston. "Boston will fall off" is my new "NJ will finally break out as cup contenders." Going on like 3 years now being wrong about them, and NJ fell off a cliff to add insult to injury. I had Boston, Detroit, and Buffalo fighting for the final wildcard spot with NJ in the East 2/3 spot and Pit in the first wildcard. I also had Edmonton as my cup favorites, which looks better now but was really questionable when they were bottom 2 in the league to start the year. I felt like everyone's "hot take" was Bedard having a slow first year and could not disagree more. I went fully in the opposite direction and said Bedard should be expected to be p/gp and had a shot at 100 points if he and his team stays healthy. Scoring is at an all time high for the salary cap era and he's the 3rd best prospect of that time period, I thought he'd at least be in the top 30 or so in p/gp. Especially considering the two comparable prospects in Crosby and McDavid were on bottom feeders (not 2023 Chicago bad but also bottom 2 in the league bad) as rookies and both finished top 10 in p/gp. Obviously Bedard's a bit below my estimate at 37th in p/gp, but I'm pretty satisfied with the take considering the already dog shit looking Hawks lost two of their 3 big offseason acquisitions for the season within their first 16 games in Hall and Perry.

Im still very confused why so many people said the bruins would miss the playoffs. Sure they lost krejci and bergeron, but they still have arguably the best goaltending tandem in the entire nhl, and marchand and pasta. plus does it really seem likely that they would drop from having such a historic season with 135 points, to less than around 95 points?

1- I bet 2 of my friends 30$ one for one that suzuki will outscore caufield 2- that MTL will finish bottom 5 in the league (we’ll get there) 3- Fantilli over Bedard in terms of point if they both play at least 65 games ( betted 3 for 1 with the same 2 friends, wont have to pay since Fantilli wont reach 65 games 4- Stutzle gets to 100 points 5- Eichel gets to 100 points Those were my top 5 bold predictions this year. Im happy about it, im a bit sad that Eichel got hurt again and that Stutzle wont reach the 100 points but im still proud of my predictions

Bad predictions I made in no particular order: - New Jersey would win the metro - the senators would make the playoffs (lol) - the oilers would win the presidents trophy - Montreal would be fighting for a wild card spot - the penguins would make the playoffs - Vancouver would miss the playoffs (this particular one might have aged as fast as bacteria contaminating the water of rainbow haven beach in the summer) I took some big L’s this year haha

I was lucky enough to get bedard in my dynasty league and I was personally feeling I’d be happy to see a 60 in 82 sort of pace but to see him at essentially a point per game on that hawks team, which is one of the worst teams on paper I’ve ever seen in my life, is very impressive. His offensive skill is clearly translating well and making any comments about his defensive game or plus minus on a team that awful is just ludicrous and you need to stop being a hater, this kid is very legit.

I had some bad pre-season predictions NJD would win the Presidents Trophy. Vancouver would be 6th in the Pacific. McDavid would have 70 goals and 170 Pts (idk what I was on)

Yeah, Bedard's +/- is completely irrelevant. You don't expect a generational offensive talent to be particularly good defensively. You get him to score, and you build a team around him.

Calder never gets awarded to player who has been best in his rookie season. If all playoff teams could chose any rookie as rental to next playoffs, Faber would be n.1 choise. That dosent mean he has better future or anything, but he has been so NHL ready player that its rare for rookie. He is playing top10 minutes in league. And he is playing in team that has no free tickets to play offence as much as you like. Bedard will be elite player and is already very good offensively, but Faber has been better player this season imo.

The Hawks are so bad. There's at least two or three passes by Connor that are absolutely squandered by his teammates each game. Put him with an actual NHL first line, and he's a point and a half per game guy right now at eighteen.

i really thought huberdeau was going to have a massive bounce back season. I know he’s been getting a bit more rhythm lately, but man he just looks so average out there. I remain optimistic but it’s just hard to see that contract not turning into one of the worst in nhl history, if it isn’t already. I’ll admit, I also thought moving on from Daryl Sutter was going to be a key step, but now i’m just in full rebuild mode.
