Tug and barge operations are a work of art and require exceptional talents as on display as sea conditions continuously change. These Captains are hero’s getting this difficult barge maneuvering completed safely. Either on the wire, in the notch or made up along side, these tug Masters are the best! CUOTO 🇺🇸⚓️

Looking good. These ships do not stop on a dime. The pure size will act like a sail then without factoring the rides and currents. "Waaiiit for it" The Chit Show makes the rounds. Thanks for keeping us up to speed on everything.

I was surprised when the two assist tugs pulled away from the barge just as she was about to be fed in under the gantry. Had they had stayed on station they could have nosed the barge over or even had a line on to pull. Now I'm only assuming this from the camera angle, maybe drone footage would have shown a different story. But het my only tug experience is by watching the TimBatsea channel, he's a New York tug Captain that explains all the different moves tugs make while bunkering ships with fuel barges. Oh yes and being onboard a RoRo ferry mooring up stern to in Alexandrea, Egypt when the tugs took us on a 360 spin twice!!!!! Thanks Andy for being out there reporting again excellent, you had better start looking for another hobby for when that jobs done. Man you have been busy, not like that pal of yours's filming Fred the croc and bathing beauties.

its an impressive little dance them there Tug boys have done this last two years in the Brunswick port, back and forth near every day or so - they should have the award for most work done throughout this operation and not a foot put wrong apart from the little dink today, i wasn't quite sure why the tug left the port side going in on the first try, i thought the idea may be to hang back when told in case your needed, just shows how quick things can change even if they look favourable what do they say, 'expect the unexpected'

Kudos to the Captains of the tug boats. Great skill, coordination, and years of experience put on full display. Will be exciting to watch them load the next section. Will they take the barge back to port or park it alongside awaiting to be slipped back in for the last section of this go around. I'm assuming sections 4 and 5 will be towed to port and wait until the barge returns from LA to be loaded and hauled away. Would that be a good assumption? Thank you again Captain Andy for an outstanding video. Keeping your Navy HAPPY! Be safe and stay healthy!

If they can’t get in there with an empty barge without crashing then how are they going to do it for the second piece with a giant heavy sail on the deck. If they mess up with that giant heavy load on board it’s going to leave more than a little hole!😂

They may have had to sink the dry-dock under it and they did the car removal from the smaller dry-dock. The bigger problem is going to be when they try to load the 2nd piece onto the barge. Visibility will be worse and windage will be much more of a problem. Also the barge will probably be unbalanced.

@@MinorcanMullet On the Suez canal they had a floating pontoon bridge that was swung into position across the canal between N. S convoys. The bridge was powered by a pair Cat engines coupled to a Z drives mounted on one end of the bridge. The other end stayed attached to the bank, something like that mounted on the front of the barge to act as bow thrusters may help once the two tugs can't go in any further.

But the only reason I said that is because I was in my ultralight plane my carving box strategy I said off-course between the two trees so rolled out came back around so proud of myself lined up came back in just happened to look at the windsock when - going down wind 40 miles an hour. If you don't have a job like this life isn't worth living I'm a girl 64 I've outlived my sports I love the heavy-duty stuff Lift Trucks dump trucks bulldozers and hand tools and chainsaws > tree trimmer your jack-of-all-trades but the ocean has called me! I tied the knot in a tree my next adventure is to tie the knot in a Russian hydroplane going 140 70ft of deck. Once I seen it I knew it had to be my next venue... I was going to part the sea so I can just walk anywhere but that became old everybody's done it if the Navy has it it's old news
