My Worst Plant AND HATERS

Spoiler alert. Every single plant I have is fake 🥸
I do not understand (nor care to) why some people are so pressed about me buying new plants every time I may unalive one. Like people were SO SHOCKED that I actually showed d e a d plants on my channel and then had the audacity to get ANOTHER one 😂. They truly acted like I got rid of my human baby and bought another baby.
Anyone who judges someone for k i l l i n g plants has clearly never owned any because trial and error is the name of the game! You take each plant as its own learning experience to see what went wrong and what you can tweak in your environment the next time.
But true unpopular opinion: I like Calatheas 😂. I find their foliage SO pretty, but they do require a little more high maintenance care especially because spider mites love them. The bright side? Even if you chop them all down to soil level, they will spring back up!
I’ve also been using diatomaceous earth consistently on all my plants in place of systemic granules because it’s all natural, food grade, and safe around my family. The mask is not because it’s dangerous, but because the particles are very fine and just shouldn’t be breathed in 😷. I’ve always done this, but I’ve gotten enough comments where I felt I needed to SHOW myself wearing a mask to prove I use one.

Oh I'm so glad I'm not the only one with that plant. I tried saving it for MONTHS. It kept getting more bugs on it than. My other plants are ALLLLLL finnnneeeeee. Just that one! Had to rid of it, it was far from giving me joy.

Can you talk more about the pros and cons of diatomaceous earth and why you side with using it?

The DE I use is natural, sustainable, and safe around pets, children, and wildlife so you can wash down the drain (just don’t breathe in the particles when applying). It doesn’t mess with the microbiome of the soil and will dehydrate pests by piercing their exoskeleton. If you have a really really bad infestation, it’s best to leave the DE on the leaves for a few days BUT you need to go trough the extra step of cleaning it off once the infestation is gone.

i'd suggest using a respirator around fine particles! surgical masks do provide some protection ofc but they leave gaps in the face. well-fitting respirators fit snug against your face. you can get disposable KN95s, KF94s, or N95s. amazon has a counterfeit problem but industrial safety sites typically have them!

Isn't neem oil a preventative? I tried neem oil & DE for 3 months straight on a pest infestation & they just kept coming back. After some research, both are really good preventatives except they're practically useless once infested. Especially DE since it only works when dry😅

Neem actively killed all the mites. It’s completely mite free now. Correct that DE only works when wet. You can do a wet application on leaves or soil and then once it dries, it regains its properties
