Really good if you follow the instructions correctly! I baked it for 70 minutes and the side and top came out hard, but the inside was perfect and soft! Next time tho, I would bake for 60 minutes or a little less

Different oven has different performances as well. You might want to check and adjust the temperature

Best to get an oven thermometer..mine is off almost 25°.. so i have to adjust and compensate..

I tried the exact recipe and it was a disaster, did not grow and cracked several times. It was also cooked in 30min 😅

@@libby702 it's moist, light and airy/spongy texture. I used dark chocolate (Ritter Sport 74 dark chocolate) so there's a slight bitterness to it and that's what my mom & friends like about it.

I made it like 3 times already and they all turned out flat, one of the three was terrible because inside it was like jelly and tasted so bad, i don’t understand😭

May I ask if we should cut the cake while it is still hot? I find the cake deflates after sitting on the dry rack. If cut while still hot, would it avoid being deflated? Thanks so much for your recipe.

I have one doubt, why do you freeze the egg whites? I've always seen instructions to use the eggs in room temperature. And by freeze the egg whites, you actually mean the freezer, or just the refrigerator?

Egg whites are much easier to whip when they are cold. I usually freeze my egg whites for about 20 minutes

That is for creaming whole eggs with butter. Common for cookies... Different recipe

You can freeze both egg whites and egg yolks, but not together. Nigella Lawson recommends freezing 2 x egg whites in each plastic bag and when you remove them to make, say, meringue l, you know each bag contains 2 x egg whites. When freezing egg yolks, cover them with cold water, otherwise they will develop a hard skin.

Egg whites hold air better cold for a fluffy cake batter hiting the hot oven and the cake keeps all those tiny air pockets . This is similar to keeping fat cold for pie crust to be flaky.

It's just a reusable baking sheet, likely made from teflon. I've heard that creasing these sheets leads to them breaking, so when lining your pans, make sure to fold lightly

For a chocolate-flavored recipe, you don't need to add vanilla extract, as the chocolate flavor itself will be prominent enough. But if you still want to add a hint of vanilla, it's totally up to you. Enjoy! 😊
